The Game Cock Inn

Welcome to The Game Cock Inn a Traditional Yorkshire Dales pub, restaurant and B&B with a cosy bar, real fire, award winning restaurant, delicious food with a French twist and comfortable, quality accommodation.

Lovely village pub with welcoming staff, cosy bar area and wood burning stove. Unexpected French influence on the food which made a change! Enjoyed a smoked haddock and chorizo starter followed by confit duck special, delicious! Would definitely return.

Chose to eat here after climbing with my brother.
The good: Lamb shank was delicious as was the treacle pudding and custard - yummy!
The girls serving were pleasant and helpful.
The bad: Flies everywhere. Someone else on here has commented likewise. This needs sorting out. Very off-putting.
The surly: Manager? Big surly bloke who works in kitchen/ behind bar.
Not friendly at all, rude, bordering on ignorant.
Shame as the rest of staff are quite friendly.

The Station Inn - The Pub

Reviewed By J S - Clitheroe, United Kingdom

The Bar / Restaurant is accessed via 2 small steps then is level inside. Warm welcome, friendly service, varied menu plus specials full bar, "Free House", comfortable, spacious and nice and warm on a cold winter night. Sits right on the 3 Peaks footpath and adjacent Ribblehead Station and Viaduct on the Settle Carlisle Line, so pretty busy even though at first glance it is in the middle of nowhere.

Lovely pub with good atmosphere, log fire going and plenty of people eating and drinking. We stayed for a couple of drinks and looked at the menu which seemed quite extensive. We decided not to eat as we had booked a meal for later that...MoreHi Thanks for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your visit with us and you enjoyed the atmosphere in the pub. Tea Room

Reviewed By Gholson - Manchester, United Kingdom

A quintessentially English tea room. It's easily missed as you whizz past but keep your eyes peeled and take a break (parking round the back) to sample their afternoon tea. The menu also includes full English breakfast, toasted sandwiches and much more. Attentive friendly service and very reasonably priced. The adjacent shop is very well stocked and there's a great selection of artisan products such as jams, sweets and cakes for sale, many on display around the tea room. You can even pick up a few vintage postcards to send to the folks back home. Highly recommended.

Marton Arms

We are a traditional Country Inn located 3/4 of a mile from Ingleton and just 6 miles away from Kirkby Lonsdale. We have 10 guest bedrooms, two of which have four poster beds, one twin bedroom and one family bedroom, the rest are double bedrooms. We are ideally located for the those doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks or visiting the White Scar Caves and Ingleton Waterfalls. All of our food is prepared freshly on site to order and we use locally sourced suppliers. For those Ale drinkers we have 8 Cask Ale hand pulls, which during the busy season we try and have all 8 on. During the quieter months this is not always possible. For those winter months we have two roaring log burning stoves in the bar and for the Summer months we have two lovely beer Gardens, one out the front of the hotel looking over St Oswalds Church and one out the back looking over open fields. For the best available rates please look at the hotel website.

We used this pub frequently many years ago when owned by the legendary Colin Elsdon but stopped when it went into decline under the ownership of Enterprise Inns !
Fortunately it is now once again a "freehouse" & has improved dramatically !
Lovely clean ambience, excellent food, far better than your average pub grub that can be washed down with ale in fine fettle !
Staff always seem friendly & attentive.
Well worth a visit when you're in this stunning part of the Yorkshire Dales !

The Old Hill Inn

The Old Hill Inn is an ancient inn of great character, part of which dates back to 1615 and the other part 1835. Originally a farm, then Drovers inn, now specialising in delicious home cooked food and excellent puddings. A family of chefs run the establishment, three working on the savoury side, and Colin, a famous pastry chef and sugar sculptor extordinaire has spectacular sculptures on display. An interesting place with log fires and beams, where Winston Churchill used to stay for hunting, shooting and fishing holidays. Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, nestling between Ingleborough and Whernside, with fantastic views from the superb en-suite letting rooms. An ideal location for a cosy meal and also catering for parties. There are many walks from here eliminating the need for a car if one wants solitude and space, and it is also an ideal location for anybody interested in the local wildlife - birds and plant life especially. We have a woodpecker family living here!!

Atmosphere much improved since my last visit a decade or so ago. Friendly local staff happy to chat. Oddly they do not provide food from mid afternoon until early evening. In the darkest months, mid afternoon is when many are coming down from the hills hungry.

Punch Bowl

Reviewed By Barriegriffin - Marple Bridge

My wife and I went to the Punch Bowl Public House, Low Bentham at 6 pm Sunday 27th August 2017 for our evening meal. We were told that we did not have to book also there was a big sign outside stating meals were available all day. We entered the pub it was quite busy as there was a party of 13 celebrating a birthday. On getting inside we saw that there was two table available in both corners so we sat down at one of the tables and asked a young waitress for a menu which she gave us. I went to the bar and had to wait at least 20 minutes as there was only one person serving and he looked past it and flustered I asked to order some drinks and food. I was told in a most rude manner that if I had not booked we could not order food. We then left. Looking around the pub it looked scruffy and dirty and if the person behind the bar is the landlord its time he learn't some manners. I would not recommend this place to anyone especially as there is plenty of eating houses around Bentham.
