Black Horse Inn

The Black Horse Inn is a superb traditional British country pub-restaurant situated in the bucolic surroundings of the village of Nuthurst, West Sussex, just outside of Horsham. Approaching from the road, you'll find yourself faced with the absolute picture of the olde worlde English pub, worn brick covered in creeping greenery, window boxes overflowing with brightly coloured flowering plants, parasol shaded bench Seating and, of course, a high swinging sign. Within, The Black Horse Inn has been brought bang up to date while retaining the bucket loads of character that would make lesser pubs weep. So while the decor is pleasantly neutral and earthy toned in keeping with a modern taste for light and airiness, the wonderful rugged beams and pitted brick walls remain along with roaring open log fires for those cosy winter dinners and an attractive garden for summer lunches. Family dining is central to The Black Horse's food, and so you'll be offered here the best of British but with a light, bistro touch, a good children's menu and a hearty Sunday roast. In the evenings dining is slightly more formal and even somewhat romantic, dinners accompanied by excellent wines and cask ales.

We visited on Saturday evening a week ago for the first time. It was a cold evening, but the pub was a cosy, and had a a nice atmosphere. The menu gave quite a lot of choice at a reaonable price. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The four of us really enjoyed our meal and we shall be back!

A family friendly, authentic Italian restaurant. Visited without booking for lunch. Owner and waiters couldn't have been more helpful, and given a very warm welcome, delicious, freshly made Spaghetti Bolognese (was even OK to order a child's portion) and wonderful pannacotta. Atmosphere was great and service very quick and thoughtful. Will definitely be returning with more friends and family. Lovely restaurant with real character! Highly recommend booking as it was very busy!

The George and Dragon

The George & Dragon is a family owned and run 17th century country free house pub in the hamlet of Dragons Green, set in the beautiful Sussex countryside. The pub is child-friendly and dog-friendly. It has a large secluded garden with a bouncy castle for children in the Summer months, and a roaring inglenook fire roaring in the Winter months. We serve a range of real ales, lagers and wines. Our food is locally sourced and freshly cooked. We have two quirky king size bed & breakfast rooms in a converted stable. In May 2015 Jon Ewers and Simon Corby took over the management of the pub.

We walked in and hadn't booked but we sat at the bar as this wasn't a problem - the very friendly landlord and his team were very welcoming and food was top notch, some old pub favorites and a few more modern twists, we all enjoyed our food and the very welcoming atmosphere, we hope to revisit soon for a proper sit down meal - we must remember to book though ! The pub is cosy and full of character, a little off the beaten track but well worth a visit .

One of the oldest building home of Carmela Restaurant , with our roots in the fashionable area of Horsham, a once guest house of Henry 7th ; there is an air of ambient charm as both staff and clientele creates a warm and stylish vibe to the day’s dining experience. Carmela has been serving excellent mediterranean food as fresh as possible, in the most unpretentious and honest ways since 2007 and continues to do so today. All four of us were very impressed with this lovely pub restaurant and "fine dining" experience. The staff were extremely pleasant, efficient, and welcoming, there was a lovely ambience with a rustic setting, and the food was absolutely delicious. It was all served on wonderfully hot plates, and even the coffee was served in pre heated cups. The mushroom soup was really tasty and hot, and accompanied by lovely fresh bread and butter. Both the lamb and the duck were beautifully presented and very tender, with subtle tastes and flavours, and there were excellent drink choices. This is much more than just a pub restaurant, and we shall definitely be back!

The Greets Inn

The Greets Inn at Warnham is an historic village pub, parts of which date back to the 14th Century. Inside this delightful village inn is an inviting bar serving Cask Marque accredited ales and a superb selection of wines. The cosy restaurant makes dining under the heavy beamed ceiling of the inn an absolute treat, with menus serving fabulous dishes made using locally sourced Sussex produce – it truly is some of the best rustic country dining to be found in and around the Horsham area. A relaxed ambience makes spending time with family and friends a real joy, especially when the open fires are roaring and the ever-hospitable proprietors, Duncan & Natalie Entwistle, start roasting chestnuts and marshmallows. The Greets Inn is a place for shaping memories to last a lifetime, as well as enjoying fabulous food in the Horsham area. In the warmer months, you can relax in the landscaped garden, which quickly becomes an extension to the restaurant, with eating ‘al fresco’ alongside the colourfully planted borders a highlight of summer. The Greets Inn is at the heart of Warnham village life, attracting food-lovers from the wider Horsham area and beyond who regularly visit to enjoy a true taste of Sussex.

The Greets Inn is a historic Inn dating back over 800 years. The place is very inviting with a roaring fire in the winter and a lovely atmosphere. The only fly in the ointment is the food. We went there a couple of days ago and had an extremely poor lunch. A dish called a chicken terrine was chicken liver pate and, although generously served was only acceptable. A poussin (for £14.50) had been cooked some hours before being served and was dried up as well as being pitifully small. Indeed, the poussin was so small that it would have cooked in about 20 minutes so there was absolutely no need to pre-cook hours before service. The "gravy" that came with it was rather unpleasantly chemically and was probably one of those cheap and nasty granule things that you add hot water to. My companion's fish and chips tasted as though it had come out of the freezer and was stale. The tartare sauce was also stale. We had eaten at The Greets Inn about 2 years ago and had really quite good food so this was a great disappointment.

Housed in a 16th Century building in the historic town of Horsham, Restaurant Tristan opened in 2008 and has been a firm favourite with local foodies ever since. Chef and Proprietor Tristan Mason worked in top restaurants like The Greenhouse and Mirabelle before becoming Head Chef at The Hare where he achieved his first Michelin Star.
