Super Cream Dairy Bar

Reviewed By Amy C

This place is great. The ice cream is delicious. I got the chocolate brownie fudge. Lovely! There was plenty of brownie chunks and fudge swirls in a delicious chocolate ice cream base. Others in my group got a soft serve and a milkshake. Everyone was pleased. Prices are great. For two ice cream comes it was less than $4. Parking is convenient. This trip was all about the ice cream but they do serve food earlier in the day. It's also quite good. Food service can be a little slow. Ice cream service is quick. They have great ice cream themed Adirondack chairs that are nice for pictures. There are lots of picnic tables on the covered patio. If you are in central New York, include this on your list of places to go.

Bob's Barbecue Catering

Have always liked Bob's BBQ. Started eating their chicken when they had a roadside stand in Homer YEARS ago. Had them cater our wedding reception on the shores of Tully Lake in 1991 and have eaten their bbq ever since. Quite incredible to watch them grow over the years. Ate there again last night - 1/4 Chicken with beans and salt potatoes. YUM!

Drive through coffee in Cortland! We roast our own beans and serve them from our 2 drive through locations in Cortland and at our sit down cafe in Homer (Origins by Coffee Mania). We have a passion for coffee and we are excited to share it with you!

It's true: Coffee Mania is amazing in all respects, from the quality of the coffee and service at the drive-thru to their masterful roasting of top-quality coffee beans for home brewing. Not to mention, their baked goods are delicious! And, once again, we were traveling--this time in eastern Maryland--and we tried the local coffee places; they couldn't even begin to compare to Coffee Mania!

These guys know how to bake. Their Challah bread is our favorite but any of the breads, sweets, and sandwiches are awesome. Hard working owners baking great treats, it doesn't get any better. They go out of their way to please their customers.

Don't forget to order 3 days in advance at least. I got a peanut butter chocolate cake and it was incredible. Delicious and beautiful. I think it was very reasonably priced. Have also had their breakfast sandwiches - delicious and great value.

Dashers Corner Pub

Reviewed By Laurie P - Cortland, New York

This was my second time eating at this restaurant, after a disastrous first experience of dining with a child with no "children's menu". This visit was much better-and I noticed that they now have a dedicated children's menu.
The menu is still an attempt to upscale Homer in finer Pub dining. They really do have a varied, eclectic menu featuring food that is visually appealing, with unique interesting tastes and textures.
The toasted cheese menu is fascinating. They took a typical toasted cheese and featured different additions to it, and paired it with a cup of tomato bisque. There are 5 types of bread (one of them is wheatberry...which is simply wheat bread!!)
I ordered The Cape Codder: lobster chunks, muenster cheese, tomato and green onion. It was absolutely heavenly! I was less than impressed with the tomato bisque or the stale tortilla chips served with it. Luckily the sandwich was so good I did not care about any of the sides. Melt- in- your- mouth goodness!
We ate outside, and our server was very good. We stayed for a very long time-but since there were always tables available for seating it seemed like it was OK. Our server never rushed us at all-but was attentive when necessary.
Overall-if you are looking for an interesting dining experience this could work for you. My sandwich was awesome-but based upon 2 dining experiences the food is hit or miss.

Pita Gourmet

Reviewed By Cheryl B - Wayne, New Jersey

We went here because I had a great experience yesterday a a middle eastern restaurant in Allentown, PA, and was looking for a healthy, delicious lunch. My whole family was disappointed. The spinach pie hardly had any (maybe frozen) spinach and was like they used calzone dough. The Greek salad with iceberg lettuce was not that good, although the dressing was good. My husband ordered a ground meat kabob that was overpriced and under garnished. One kabob on a bed of rice and a small cup of lentil soup was $13. The only thing that was good was my daughter's burger which we got them to cook rare, else it would have been a complete bust. We ate because we were on a college tour so we had to keep moving. When we told them truthfully how we felt, at first the owner argued that we ate, then he took off one item and seemed disappointed we were disappointed so I felt bad for him. He seemed nice and offered to make us something else, so the rating went up for that. Maybe Cortland is just not a foodie town, as there were a lot of people in the restaurant. Left hungry, but looking forward to a good dinner elsewhere.

Linani's Cookie Factory

Reviewed By Laurie P - Cortland, New York

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Sherman House Restaurant in Briggs Hall. They are just beginning their transition into a restaurant from the former Linani's.
Our lunch was very good. Ellen and Bill were the wait staff that day. Both were very experienced at the special events and parties that Linani's caters-and were just getting their feet wet in the wait staff business. Both did a fantastic job.
Randy's food was delicious. We both ordered the crab cake sandwich which was extremely fresh tasting. We ordered fresh fruit on the side...although clearly not in season all of the fruit was fresh and tasty. The soup of the day was a tomato, rice, bean soup. Interesting Italian combination-but it worked, and tasted good. A little extra spiced added just the kick we needed on a cold winter day.
It wasn't busy the day we were there, but there were guests. One of the parties was celebrating a birthday...who knew Bill had such a fabulous voice?? Generally, for lunch the age range is in the retirement age range-but that may change with time. It has been a popular community business for a while as Linani's.
The food was good-and we will be back!

East Side Bakery

Reviewed By Ted_and_Laura - Cortland, New York

We've become very fond of this hometown bakery. We can always stop in and get something delicious to take to a social gathering or a cheer-me-up for a friend. Their apple strudel is sublime. Recently, we've noticed that they are doing gorgeous cakes and cupcakes that are as delicious as they are beautiful. The buttercream frosting that they make is PERFECT--not too sweet and light-as-a-feather.
