The chips, salsa and green sauce are really good. I ordered a dish with grilled chicken that had a sauce on it and sausage and it actually makes me feel sick just thinking about it. Not a fan at all. I did get a Hurricane to drink though and it was huge! Their drinks don't disappoint.

The Back Door Pizza & More

Reviewed By HouTexGal - Houston, Texas

While this restaurant is little more than a "hole in the wall" by city standards, it serves excellent pizzas, sandwhiches, salads and burgers. The pizzas are a step above what you will get from Dominos or Pizza Hut in Waller. The restaurant sits behind and adjacent to a pool hall/bar and is frequented by locals who want a little relaxation and socializing in the evenings...... Translation, it's gets busy during peak lunch and dinner hours.

Located on old Hempstead Highway and Warren Ranch Road, it is a short 10 minute drive from Waller or 15 minutes from Cypress. I highly recommend this establishment over any of the other restaurants in the area.

Despite only recently opening, we've already picked up takeout twice now from Jersey Mike's. Personally I like them better than Subway (where we were a regular), but my husband is still deciding. They're a little more expensive and possibly smaller than Subway, but I think they taste better and the meat is cut fresh in front of you. On our cold subs, I like getting it Mike's Way (it says what that is on the menu). If you join online, you can (1) tie your phone number to your orders and get points and earn free items (2) join the eclub to get offers, (3) order online so your sandwich is ready for pickup, (4) retain your order history so you can easily order it again next time (our favorites are #9, #13, and #17). Our first visit there were long lines but they had a lot of staff working and it went quickly. Today they only had 1 person on the register and 1 making sandwiches at the front. My husband said it went painfully slow. It sounded like more staff were coming in later so it was probably just timing. Either way, I think it is worth the wait -- as they're delicious. Enjoy!

2920 Roadhouse

Reviewed By cmb2 - Magnolia, Tx.

Since the normal dinner menu here is a la carte similar to the best steakhouses (think Perry's or Fleming's) in the Houston Metro area, we hesitated to come since a meal including wine, appetizers, salad, entree + dessert would run well over $100 per person. We learned they were offering daily Grand Opening specials at $14.95 & had a coupon for a free appetizer during Happy Hour (if 2 drinks ordered), so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. The ambience is upscale Texas Country ranch, & there were no fine linens as one would expect with a higher-priced menu at 5:30 p.m. We were greeted well & ushered to a table for 3 in the side dining room which has views to the Roberts estate grounds. The menus tell the history of the property dating back to pre-Alamo days & it is recorded in the history books Sam Houston's Texas Army stopped at this property to ask directions to Harrisburg Rd. so they could arrive at San Jacinto to help win the battle there for Texas independence. As for our dinner, the 3 of us ordered the special which was chicken parmesan served with cavatappi in cheese sauce & sauteed green beans with onion & bacon bits. All were superb. Their signature & complimentary Monkey Bread arrived right after our wine & it was excellent. Our appetizer was the Smokehouse Sampler with 4 different kinds of sliced, smoked sausages + 3 dipping sauces. The appetizer was enough for 4 to share & fabulous. My small side salad got devoured before I could take a photo, but it was very good with home-made vinaigrette. The chicken was a WHOLE chicken breast, not the normal single practically everyone else serves (see photo). It was way too much meat for 1 person unless you're a very hungry cowboy, so all of us went home with boxes of leftovers. Our side of smoked asparagus came family style, enough for 4, so I took home extra asparagus, too. There was no room for dessert, but we went home very satisfied after celebrating our anniversary. The house wines are excellent & Happy Hour is 3-6 p.m. Mon-Fri. Our only complaint was the service, although extremely friendly, was very rushed, too rushed to enjoy a meal with friends & conversation. Our appetizer platter was only 2/3's finished before my salad & all 3 meals came out. I got the impression they were trying to rush us out of there since all 3 of us ordered the least expensive wines by the glass & least expensive meals, as well as having that coupon for a free appetizer. There was no demand for tables that would normally prompt servers to rush customers out in order to seat waiting customers. In fact, less than 1/2 the tables were full by the time we departed, & no one was waiting for a table. We will continue to patronize this place as long as they offer coupons or specials at a lower price & next time we will ask to be served in a slower manner. We were in & out in only 75 minutes, so some of us had indigestion when we walked out the door. For the amount of food we were served, time spent at a comparable restaurent would be at least 2 hrs., maybe longer.

Cielitto Lindo Restaurant

Reviewed By Juna

Have lived close to the area for over 10 years and have never been to this place until we were recently invited for a birthday celebration on a Tuesday night. The place had plenty of available seating...there was a nice lit patio outside.

I always judge a tex-mex place by the quality of the salsa first and foremost. Based on this along, I would rate them below-average. The rest of the meal was average for me, although other guests who ordered fajitas seemed to like them. They had some huge margaritas and the waiters were happy to try to sell you those. I cautiously ordered a small one and got a headache that night...not sure if that says anything about the quality of the drink.

Overall, a good enough restaurant, particularly for a group celebration where you want waiters to be attentive. The food is not good enough for me to want to return though. Maybe, I'll try the beef fajitas next time...I had their chicken mole enchiladas. Prices are comparable to other tex-mex places...but if you're looking for a place to eat in Waller and do not want to drive further into Cypress or Houston, not a bad option.

The Shack

Reviewed By travelingBard23 - Houston, Texas

We prefer the burgers and fries at The Shack to any other place in Houston. The beer list is extensive, and the byob option was nice.
That being said, we won’t be eating there again. When we learned that the ownership permits open and concealed carry of weapons on the premises where alcohol is served, we thought it was a stupid joke.
So we called. It was verified by management. This is worse than stupid. It is horrific. We cannot support such risky behavior.
We’ll miss the food but not the unsafe setting.
