Top 10 restaurants in Hercules, United States

April 14, 2018 Sheron Bogner

Hercules is a city in western Contra Costa County, California. Situated along the coast of San Pablo Bay, it is located in the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, about 10 miles (16 km) north of Berkeley, California. As of 2010, its population was 24,060, according to the United States Census Bureau. The site of Hercules was first developed in 1881 as a manufacturing facility of the California Powder Works for the production of its patented dynamite formulation, Hercules powder. In 1882, the Hercules Powder Company was incorporated and assumed responsibility for the Hercules site. It was one of several explosive manufacturers that were active along the Pinole shoreline in the late 19th to the mid-20th century. The small company town that grew up near the facility subsequently became known as "Hercules", and was incorporated at the end of 1900. Starting in the 1970s, Hercules was heavily redeveloped as suburban bedroom community that lies along the I-80 corridor in Eastern Contra Costa County. It has a very ethnically diverse population.

We went to The Dead Fish for my wife’s birthday and it was very nice again. The food was good and the views were fantastic. We finished with a nightcap in the lounge while sitting at the fireplace. Great evening!

We went for a birthday dinner. My husband had Linguine Tutto Mare and I went for Grigliata Di Mare. We both love seafood and were delighted with the dishes. The portions were large, the seasons perfect, the presentation appealing. We had an attentive, helpful waiter who brought just the right wine to accompany the meal.

We were so happy to encounter very nice, attentive, and polite staff at this location, since at other times the employees are just doing their job and do not really pay attention or even smile to customers!
My five years old daughter said: "it's hilarious" talking about the new "mini" green tea frappucino I ordered, and several of the staff members laugh with us, and said it was cute she said so! Not wonder why this place is always busy with happy customers!

Bear Claw Bakery

Reviewed By Clarice510 - Concord, California

We only stopped by Bear Claw for a quick lunch. At 12:30 PM, their pastry did not have much selection. The pastry on display were not exactly inviting, but since we were not here for the pastry, that was not a deal breaker. It could be because of the time, though, so do not let my little comment deter you from stopping by to sample their sweets.

We ordered the Hot Chick panini. It was delicious with the baked herb chicken, bacon, pepper jack cheese, jalapeño, tomato with chipotle aioli. If they simply called it a sandwich, it would have been above average. But calling it a panini when it really was just a sandwich with warmed bread is false advertisement.

Friendly service and decent prices would make me willing to stop by again should I find myself in the area.

After picking up take-out food from RSM, you could go next door and get dessert at the Sunflower Bakery. The baked goods there are delicious! Service though is not too friendly. My pet peeve is paying for something and having the cashier talk over me to the customer behind me, just because they know each other.

Friendly, fast service, great barbecued meats, good salads, sandwiches. The takeout service is excellent, or, you can usually get a table with no problem. Sometimes parking is difficult, especially in the evening, during commute hours. I have also been to their Martinez location, which is very good as well.

delight your senses. Over the holidays I visited family in the Bay Area, I remembered this restaurant from past visits. This visit exceeded expectations and the evening was a wonderful dining experience. The menu is a classic selection of American styled fare with a contemporary twist. The restaurant is a family run business, the service is excellent. The care and preparation in the menu and exemplary service makes this a very popular dining place. Do make reservations on a weekend night and be prepared to wait a bit if you do not. Worth the wait.

East Bay Coffee Company

Reviewed By SusanElSobrante - El Sobrante

Sometimes a little known coffee place can really be a pleasant surprise. The coffee is strong, smooth and fragrant. The quiche is more than satisfying...not your average run of the mill quiche. The crust was buttery, thick while the filling was rich and savory. Totally better than some places that serve quiche as an entree. The baked goods looked fantastic but I couldn't justify another calorie after that delicious quiche! I plan to go back and try a scone.
