Drifters is located in an older home right on the main street in this small southern Ontario town. Have driven by this place many times but today decided to join family members for some lunch. The place was not very busy when we arrived but gradually other customers wandered in. We ordered sandwiches which were very well prepared and tasty. The service was great and we certainly would return for another visit.

When outside in the county between harrow and Amherstburg, not really sure where to go for breakfast. But as part of the tour county road 50 weekend, started with breakfast here at the intersection of Hwy 18. I have driven by this business and have always thought it was a convenience store and did not realize there is a restaurant inside. You do enter through the variety store with the kitchen in the back.
The decor is rustic country. The menu selection has something for everyone and everything is made fresh with mom in the kitchen and dad watching the variety store. When we visited on Sunday morning, it was busy and service can be slow. The food is good, location is easy to find and is a good spot being close to harrow and holiday beach.
I do wish they do them out and will visit again for breakfast if I find myself visiting in the area.

Great breakfast. Can't beat the price. The owner, kitchen staff, and waitress are always pleasant. A great little diner that keeps its regulars coming back and gaining new customers recommendations.

I was looking for another specific restaurant. The owner was very helpful with directions and she had a sense of humour too. The crowd eating there looked very happy indeed. It's just that we were destined for another place that night. I promised I would go back another time.

This was the last stop on our wine tasting tour. I wish we would have stopped elsewhere. Although the scenery was very beautiful, the staff seemed put out we were there at all. My friend and I met here. She resides in Leamington. I'm in Aburg. So we met here for drinks and dinner. Decent. Overall average. Nothing to write home about but definitely not bad. I got fish tacos. Came with no side. My friend got the perch. We both had 2 drinks. Decent but when we got final bill we were both taken aback.

Sad to say that the wine was not as good as I have had on the wine trail. The building and surrounding areas are nice but the wine we tried was nothing to write home about and the prices were a little steep. Having said that everyone has different tastes. We have met the owner Sam before he passed and enjoyed his company and at that point in time his wine. I will continue to visit to try the wine again and relive the memories.

We have been invited by our relatives for lunch.
Their choice was Fellini Restaurant.
The atmosphere was perfect, tables set with beautiful dishes, floral arrangements on the table, rather quiet, could hardly hear others speaking at nearby tables.
The food excellent, and nicely presented. The service was perfect like it should be.
Very friendly staff. And the restroom facilities were spotless.

My friend and I did a tasting before going outside for lunch. The girl that was with us for the tasting was extremely helpful and knowledgable.
However, once going outside for lunch, we waited about ten minutes to be seated. (No one was there to seat people) and about 20 minutes before we got water or someone came to take our order. In between taking our food orders and bringing the food, the waitress came over one time in 30 mins. The food was excellent. However, when the bill came, my total was 30.24. I gave her a 40 and no change was offered back. TERRIBLE customer service. I had to hunt her down to ask for my change back. No one should EVER assume a tip, especially a 30% for terrible service.

Those outside the Colchester area wouldn't know much about the checkered history of restaurants that have come and gone at this location. We have faithfully tried each time a new owner has appeared over the years, only to be disappointed time and time again.
BUT...... Things have changed! :-) There's been a new owner (whom we have not met) in place for about a year; the word is she knows and understands good food. So....... Last week we decided on the spur of the moment to go out to breakfast, and ended up at Garfield's. Delicious breakfast! We both had the "Classic Breakfast", priced at $6.50 (CD) which included two eggs (soft-poached for my wife, "over-easy" for me), choice of toast (wheat, rye, white), choice of bacon, ham or sausage and home fries. Great quality, plenty quantity, and a very reasonable price.
Unfortunately, I can't review anything else on the menu, as this was our first visit. The menu looks inviting, but lends itself more to burgers, salads and soups, starters and sandwiches than it does to full-blown entrees. But if the breakfast is any indication, and the reviews of others are on target, then Colchester FINALLY has a place to go for a decent breakfast, lunch or dinner. Hallejulah!
For those not from the Colchester area, but coming here to visit the close-by wineries, Garfield's is on the eastern edge of Colchester, at the junction of Erie Road (to Harrow) and County Road 50, just one minute from CREW, Viewpointe, and North 42 wineries, perfect for a casual lunch break between wine tastings.
Finally, kudos to Diane, who was our breakfast server. Personable, friendly, smiling and efficient, she did a fine job handling several tables as a solo act.
Bottom line, we'll be back to try more of the menu -- and soon! Recommended!
