We are a gastropub/restaurant located in the middle of Grimstad, with a beautiful outdoor Seating area, right next to the main pedestrian street. The building is in an old pharmacy with second hand furniture. The style of both our customers, staff and food is relaxed and informal. The food is made on the premises by our friendly chefs. From springtime 2013 we have our handcrafted beer either on tap or bottle. The first beers have received good feedback both from customers and beer sites online.

I had read some pretty nice review about this place and I was very much looking forward to try the food. We were two of us eating two different types of fish. They were both good, but nothing special.
I think this is a better place for food and adult beverages for a night out with pub food.
I will probably come again to try more of the menu.

You like a great cozy bit modern ish atmosphere, treated very friendly and with respect? Food that matches your expectations and beyond?
Here we go, that's your place. Great menu with a good choice of modern interpretation of classics like Caesar Salad and beef, fish classics.
Huge choice of drinks.
The service was outstanding and super friendly.

It is the old house across the alley from Ibsen Museum, it has some light meals and home made olive oil and vinegar for sell. The Greek salad and the mango salad dressing is the highlight. The quiche is a bit too soft but tasted not bad. It is a good place to hangout or have a party.

As with many of these family run restaurants, you go for the food and not the interior.
The staff here were very friendly and were keen to help if you need help deciding what to have.
The food was great. Good portion and very fresh and tasty. Plenty of flavors and highly enjoyable.

I understand its Norway so being a Waiter or Waitress isn't the type of job people aspire too, but obviously this woman was a family to a place that had good food but bad service. If anyone asks for a dinner recommendation for Grimstad i'll send them to Dag og Natt for less and a friendlier staff...

Platebaren has both outdoor and indoor Seating during the summer months and you might have a problem finding a table on Saturdays. The ice cream coffee is delicious (45 NOK). They have a range of different pizzas, sandwiches, omelettes and salads in addition to milkshakes, a big ice cream menu and waffles. i have never had to wait more than 5 minutes, the staff members do a great job!

For a quick meal it works very well
The chicken with red curry was very good, spicy and a good portion. The fried rice was not fried enough and maybe a bit small in portion for a grown man but could have taken regular dinner not lunch for that. Service could be smiling a little more.
