We were invited to this restaurant by friends. The weather was perfect, so we sat outside. The chef is know for his preperation of meat, but they also have fish ect. The menu is 'klein aber fein' accompanied with a big choice of splendid wines. The Terrace and surroundings give a nice ambiance making you feel relaxed and ready to wine and dine. However it can get loud dependent on the customers frivolity. Unfortunately there was a major glitch with the service which left a bad taste in my mouth. Obviously stressed by the many visitors my order was delivered wrong and had to go back to the kitchen. Not a problem this can happen. However when returned, the steak was no longer hot but unperturbed l tried to make the best of a bad situation. I finally surrendered and asked for my steak to be warmed up making no accusations! The 'blonde' waitress took my request as a personal insult and then returned aggressively with the chef (and my steak -hot) who also remonstrated about my request being out of order because I had eaten almost half before complaining. Big scene over a little incident and zero understanding of Customer Service which is unfortunately a Swiss illness.
I would like to say this was a 'one off glitch' but this was not my first visit and Blonde has shown stress signs in the past!
Important though is the excellent filet steak and the great wine choice but I still have a bad taste about the service. Luckily the Bistro in Weinfelden has the fine steak, excellent wine AND the excellent service so I know where l will go next time.

Just a lovely local restaurant serving good local food as well as Asian for some reason. The Wiener schnitzel is to die for , I take it with Swiss spatzli as opposed to fries, nice combination.Ambience is between traditional and modern, good efficient service.

Myself and my husband ate here recently......to start we had chicken and soup to start with, noddles and a chicken and rice dish for mains. We sampled the Weiss bier and had espressos to finish. The staff were excellent and very attentive, would highly recommend this restaurant.......

My wife and I stopped by during a drive from Lake Konstanz to Zurich, after a quick search for Breweries on Google. They were even open on a Sunday. They have about 5 core bears and 4 high alcohol gourmet beers, including a barley wine. I really applaud their marketing and passion for beer.
On top of that the restaurant was packed with locals. We tried the pizza and the bitter ale. All was good and based on the Sunday crowd I think they are popular with locals which is always a great sign. We even bought a 6-pack of beer to go and they didn't disappoint.
Highly recommended.

After Reading the top reviews received by this restaurant, we decided to give a try. But honestly, the only quality I can see in this restaurant is that it is CHEAP and they serve large portions. If you are looking for a cheap and generous thai meal and you don't care about food quality, maybe this is your place. The ambience is poor: we went through a small thai supermarket to reach the dining room, where we (2 persons) were invited to seat at a large table, shared with the owner. No privacy, of course. We had to socialize with the owner necessarily and we were a bit surpised when he started to talk very bad about the guy who left him a non positive review here on Tripadvisor. This sounded completely inappropriate, and we got the impression that he was trying to dissuade us from leaving a negative review too. The food was cooked extremely quickly and it was disappointing. The problem was not the quality of the ingredients, the problem was the lack of professionality of the chef in preparing the dishes, and, as a consequence of that, flavours were not good. The worst detail of our meal was that the curry paste was not completely melt in the curry souce, therefore some solid residuals of this paste were still present to ruin the dish. If you love well-crafted thai cuisine, we do not suggest you this restaurant at all.

The restaurant is inside the Karthause Ittingen old monastery. The mill wheel is a central part of the restaurant and is still turning. This restaurant features local produce and innovatively notes on the menu how far the produce has traveled until it is on your plate. The food was very good and portions were medium sized. They also offer local wines and beers. The service was excellent. Certainly a good choice for a meal if you are in the area.

Been there for lunch on saturday. Good place for fresh dish. Small menu but therefore always fresh. Not a romantic place but good for any occasion.
