We were there during December for a dinner and made a reservation to get a good place near the big windows where you have sensational view on the lake (Ossiacher See)
During summer it must be wonderful to sit outside on the Terrace (view and atmosphere)
The portions were quite big, very tasty and the price was on an average level which we considered as good ratio between quality and price.

This is a proper gourmet restaurant. We travel all the time and love our food - and can say this is a proper restaurant.
It's not just that the food is of high quality, beautifully presented, cooked to perfection, but the service is attentive and professional.

Fresh, uncomplicated meals by day (Lunch am Tag) exquisite steaks, salad and antipasti and wine by night (Steakhaus)
Was there twice during our visit and had stake, lamb and surf&turf. All were absolutely top notch. There is an abundant salad bar where everyone can find a good choice of delicious appetisers and side dishes. Service was very fast. During holiday season, in the evening hours a reservation is advisable. Prices are high.

Just south of Graz on a gentle bike ride alongside the Mur river lies Herbert's Stubn in the small town of Feldkirchen. This is a husband and wife operation with Herbert waiting at tables and his wife doing the cooking. There is a large outdoor Seating area (partly under the largest parasol you've ever seen!)The food is beautifully presented and a feast for the senses. Herbert is justly proud of the local produce and his wife cooks with flair and the eye of an artist. If If I could recommend a few items, to start, the cheese wrapped in bacon served on salad with pumpkin oil dressing was superb. Main courses change, I imagine, but Pork medallions were delicious as were the lamb steaks. Also on another visit I had a chicken schnitzel stuffed with cheese and spinach. Again superb. The menu is reassuringly small. You won't go wrong with anything you choose and you will be pleasantly suprised when you receive your bill, it's very good value.

Four of us dined on a busy holiday after selecting this place from Tripadvisor and, independently, having it recommended by our hotel owner. We were not disappointed. Service is focused. How such young people can be so professional, well, let's just say I'm not used to this in California.
The dishes we ordered were, mostly, flawlessly executed. Soup is usually a good indicator of the quality of a kitchen and the two our group tried were beyond excellent. Two small quibbles...the best lake view tables were in the smoking section. We felt non smokers were more deserving. And the vegetables over which my fish was served were way over cooked and heavy with olive oil or butter.
Don't try to walk here from Velden proper...too hilly and far.

Our first visit to Portschach and one outstanding highlight was the Backerei Wienerroither! As you step up to the door you are greeted by the wonderful aroma of freshly baked breads and a display of cakes and pastries to die for!
Additionally the Restaurant Menu is extensive and well priced and the quality and quantity of the food is excellent so if you are in the area the Backerei Wienerroither is a must!

We had a wonderful dinner at the Fischerhaus composed of three courses with an owner who was very nice and informal. The owner suggested us some dishes while being very chatty. Considering the prices displayed at the website of the Fischerhaus (35 euros for a three course dinner) I was in the mood not being my normal self to check all the suggestions he made. At the end of the dinner we received a bill of 276 euros. This was a cheat. I told the owner of the restaurant that I would not be coming back. He offered to reduce his bill with 100 euros after having made the payment already. Of course, the bill remained the same and also the disappointment with such treatment.

The place is amazing, but only in a sunny day ,as it is builed on water . There are few tables only ,and the atmosphere is relaxed and club-like . The food is great ,but it takes a long time to get it, after order . So, if you have time , enjoy the view , taste a glass of white wine ,and wait for your "vitello tonato " for ex , for the quality is worth the waiting. It is a place with great history ,architectural tresure, and the best view of lake Worthersee.

Driving around Ossiacher See, we decided to follow the signs to a Forellenstation for just a fish meal. BUT! What an unexpected natural beauty was expecting us! Also with the touch of human intervention, a beautiful little lake was housing a rich trout population and pretty colourful umbrellas over armchairs were scattered on the green lakeshore, waiting for the ambitious fishermen!. On one side of the lake, at the resto, we tasted one of the best crunchy fried trouts ever!
Moreover I would suggest a stroll at the neighborhood after meal; it will reveal nice residences with fantastic Gardens, domestic animals and friendly pets.
