Top 10 restaurants in Ensenada, Mexico

July 17, 2017 Roger Rusk

In Ensenada, only 80 miles south of San Diego, travelers can get a taste of Mexican food, culture and nightlife. Californians flock to this beautiful seaport town, one of the largest on the Baja peninsula, for rest, relaxation and excellent outdoor recreation activities. From surfing and sea kayaking to horseback riding and mountain biking, even the most discerning sportsperson will be impressed. Ensenada's nightlife is also a big draw. Papas and Beer and Hussong's Cantina serve up an on-going party atmosphere and lots of tequila, while nearby vineyards offer wine tasting in a more traditional and serene setting. Nature enthusiasts are wowed by the sight of gray whales and the underwater cave that randomly squirts water at onlookers. Whatever your interests, enchanting Ensenada will not disappoint.

Punta Morro

The food was ok. They were out of lobster, really pushed lobster enchiladas. My husband opted for filet and I had the 1 and only vegetarian dish offered. My pasta was good. As a vegetarian, I still offer filet at my house and usually opt to cut & trim my own. His filet was by trimmed properly. Making a rare preparation very difficult to eat. I’d give this a 3.5-3.75 rating. Price was very reasonable so we got what we paid for but this is not fine dining.

The stake is very good as well as the entrees. Service is irregular, but the food quality is good. They have lots of options as well with the wine.
They also have a bar area that it is really nice and even good for a smoke (they do allow cigars outside).

Mahi-Mahi Restaurant de Mariscos en el Mapa

We had an excellent meal with our family, and the atmosphere was outstanding!

Reviewed By robertgreninger - Prescott Valley, AZ

This large, casual, downtown Ensenada seafood restaurant has an extensive menu, which should satisfy most all seafood lovers' wishes. With an extraordinarily broad menu, attentive service and comfortable surroundings, this is a must stop for value-priced seafood dining. Our party of six ordered a variety of dinner items; none were disappointed. From appetizers (Toritos) to soup (seafood) to main courses (steamed clams, Mahi-Mahi, shrimp in garlic sauce), all were satisfied. The Margaritas, by the pitcher, were tasty and a bargain. A must stop in Ensenada.

This restaurant was recommended by Martha N. who has good taste when it comes to places to eat. Be sure to make a reservation. This place fills up fast.
It is not cheap by Mexican standards but it is very cheap by American standards.
It is on the waterfront in a very cheesy tourist area where guys try to get you to go on a boat tour with them. They are very annoying. This restaurant is so good however I will brave these guys anyway lol!
I had the crema de almeja and tried the pescadillas. As an entree I had fish of the day which was tuna.
The food is pretty simple but it is perfectly cooked and very fresh.
Parking is difficult to find around here.
What could I do without here?
The boat tour guys!
What makes Muelle 3 stand out?
The fresh fish and the value!
Five stars! This place is really. really ridiculously good!

Excellent seafood, cafeteria style, but it's well worth it! Tons of choices and thousands of combinations. Try the 'vaso especial', has a bit of everything with soupy broth.

La Guerrerense

Although this is quite a nice experience of what street food is, you have to keep in mind that: 1.- must be very early (12-13hrs) to get to choose from the menu, otherwise you'll be picking from leftovers. 2.- Prices are quite high for what street food is supposed to be. 3.- hygiene aint the best (its street food and remember you are eating in the sidewalk so might be prepared for Moctezumas revenge (the runs). 4.- When prep of the food is under supervision of the owner everything tastes different than when her son does, so you can't really know if you had the real flavor of La Guerrerense.
PD. Count your money when they hand out the change...

This is the best Birriería in town. They offer a variety of four type of birrias; beef, lamb, goat & pork, my favorite is lamb. Also they offer it with the broth (jugo) or on the flat grill (a la plancha).
I also recommend the fried tripitas (beef guts), they are really good.
The beer is cold and makes a good match with the birria.

A very popular venue for a good reason, the fish is fresh and you really cannot beat it. It can get busy, but the wait is worth it for the fresh fish.
