We were at the lotus-eaters for an evening meal. We chose the place after Reading amazing trip advisor reviews. Well this one will not be different. This restaurant really deserves them all. The location is by the sea protected from the wind, the lighting is perfect and the chairs really confortable. I had the Cretan sausages, the lamb chops and the chocolate cheese cake. My wife had the shrimp with ouzo, the sole and the walnut sponge cake. All of them were amazing. The red house wine was very good. The service was spotless. A place not to miss.

Chanced upon this tavern at Elounda after our trip to Spinalonga. It was my first introduction to Cretan Cuisine and the best meal we had during our Greece trip! Our group of six had Stuffed Tomato and Pepper, Aubergine Special, Seafruit (seafood platter), among others. Every dish is tasty, of good portion and reasonably priced. I really love the Stuffed Tomato and Pepper!
The tavern is run jointly by two family and the staff are so warm and friendly. Love the ambience of the tavern with green vines all over the top and potted plants aplenty.
Highly recommend this tavern. Don't miss it if you visit Elounda, you will not regret it. I am so missing their food already!

Ate there twice this trip to Crete. Not only a great location on the water, but friendly service and above all superb quality. I had swordfish steaks first time around, succulent and a generous portion. Second time I had prawn risotto - quite simply the best dish I ate during my trip. Delightful olondi retains the character of the real Greece - go by all means, but book in high season

Had dinner twice at Porto Rino , second time they remembered I was gluten free and brought me gluten free nibbles to start. They always have a gluten free pasta available, and nearly all of the sauces are gluten free. My non gluten fre partner had a very tasty looking pizza first time round. His pasta second time was less spectacular but still good. Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful, would go back

We had a super meal here... nice attentive service, great recommendations for dishes and drinks, tasty food and competitively priced. On the quieter side of the village this restaurant overlooks the public beach and is away from the hustle and bustle. We went for the taramasalata to share (bread came with complimentary feta dip and tapenade as well), followed by the fresh fish dish each ( which was sea bass) then gadafi and ice cream, with a small bottle of oozo and a half carafe of house white wine the meal only came to about 58 euros. We were given the choice of having the fish filleted (much easier although not so pretty!) or whole (see photos) - just delicious - and it came with fresh vegetables and potatoes. And the meal was closed with a complimentary raki and chocolate biscuit dessert. It was one of the busier restaurants in the area and I can see why. Nicely decorated in calm seaside colours - they’ve obviously been doing a lot right since it was established in 1999.

This little bar is a perfect place for a drink or lunch or in our case desserts! Extensive treat menu and a lovely spot on the bay, we were lucky enough to see a turtle up close as we had a drink! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and remembered us each time we came (probably too often!). Very reasonably priced...highlights for us were the crepes, waffles, baklava and the doughnut which was bigger than the person eating it (or so she thought!)... picture below, plate was dinner size!

We decided to try the Alyggos on our second evening in Elounda. We were made to feel very welcome. We decided to sit just outside the bar in the square and sat and watch the comings and goings of the local people including the children who were playing in the square. It was very relaxing and a great place to chill that we decided to go on an evening and were always warmly welcomed by the staff.

Took a bit of finding in the dark but it’s worth finding. Service is a delight but wait till the food comes.... superb prawns on the grill, plump and tasty muscles and a delicious sea food spaghetti to Round things off. Just excellent

Just returned from this fantastic holiday and visited Maria's restaurant on many occasions,we were always treated with a warm and friendly smile and made to feel very special.
We took our grandson Louie with us and Maria always showed him a lot of love and affection.

This bar overlooks the small fishing harbour off the main square in Elounda village.. With superb hosts to make you welcome and value for money drinks, coffee and meals it ranks number 1.

We visited often while in Elounda - mainly for drinks and snack lunches.
The service is excellent, the drinks choices great and the choice of snacks and meals better than average. The food menu is very much aimed at British visitors, but hey, ho, we are British! Enough Greek dishes to satisfy most palates though ...
We enjoyed sitting outside to "people watch" in the sun, but if too hot the air conditioned inside was equally welcoming. The location, overlooking the harbour is superb - the mixture of working fishing boats and trip boats ( mainly to Spinalonga ) makes fascinating watching - better than the TVs in the bar!
We understand that it gets busy in the high season and in the evening, but we were at the end of the season and had no difficulty getting seats where we preferred.
All in all, a recommended place to catch a cool drink and watch the world go by.
PS - be aware that the parking by the harbour is NOT free , we saw several cars getting tickets
