Always enjoy this restaurant. You will leave satisfied. Homemade ketchup and jams. My favorite is the lobster roll for lunch. It is served with lettuce, tomatoes, and fries. The menu additions can be found on the chalk board above the grill. For breakfast, l enjoy the two eggs, choice of meat and type of toast. If you go on a Sunday, expect to wait. Also, you may choose to eat outside!

Giuseppe's Pizza

We are proud to offer authentic Neapolitan pizza here in North-West-Indiana. Our Staff has been trained by an Italian Master Pizza Chef with over 30 years of expertise. The 19th Century recipe begins with pizza dough that is made with Imported Italian flour, fresh yeast, and sea salt. Next, Imported Italian San Marzano tomatoes, plus fresh herbs and spices, are blended into a flavorful pizza sauce. Finally, Fior di Latte Mozzarella or Imported Italian Buffalo Mozzarella melts to perfection as the pizza is charred in our 900 degree Stone Wood Burning Oven. This 19th Century Italian tradition is a very meticulous process which results in a Neapolitan pizza bursting with intense fresh flavor.

I think this pizza is better than the well known, highly rated establishments in the Chicagoland area. My wife and I were introduced to Giuseppe's by her sister a little over 4 years ago. We have to have this pizza every time we visit her in Schererville which, unfortunately, is only 4 or 5 times a year. If Giuseppe's opened a restaurant in the northern suburbs of Chicago, the visits would increase tenfold along with my waistline, I'm sure. On this last visit, we sampled the meatballs and sauce. The owner explained that everything was freshly made. We all agreed that the it was out of this world. During our next visit, we can't wait to try several of the dinners that come with meatballs which we should have tried long before this. But, with limited time, we always order our thin crust pizzas to go and pick them up at the very convenient back window. By the way, we get a family sausage and mushroom and a large spinach and mushroom to ensure leftovers. Though, on this last visit, we are left with slim pickens thanks to me. What can I say? It's that good.

Bomber's BBQ

Reviewed By HarryBGurnee_IL - Gurnee, IL

Trolling the Southlands for a late lunch, my phone led a jaunt East across the border, into Indiana. Never off-put by a humble storefront (best recent BBQ reviewed at a GAS STATION in MO!), I sidled up to the counter....

A very friendly young lady ran me down the daily specials, while a Q-master dude detailed the chili's contents. So, a pound of tips, sides of chili and curly fries (arrived crisp as ordered); we were off to the races.

Unless pulled hot from the smoker and chopped to order, tips are tricky - falling below oven temp they tend to harden and dry out quickly, if not sauced. These were neither, which might have dismayed some. They were, however, really well smoked and tasted richly of rub. Three puddles of their "not killer hot" sauces gave just enough juice as I dissected the pieces. There was minimal fat, and virtually no cartilage. The trim was excellent!

The chili was also noteworthy for multi-textured presentation of meats - one can easily tell what was being eaten. Just spicy enough, served hot. My only criterion for curly fries is that they not flop around - these were crisp and fresh. For a joint with no stove (only smokers and fryers), they're doing OK. If I'd wanted brisket, however - my usual requirement is a grilling and slight blackening treatment of the slices. Same true for hot links - a split and grilled presentation is best, I say!

Wouldn't have minded some cooked greens on the menu, too - but after all, this is NORTHERN Indiana! Overall, pretty well done for 20-somethings..... but room for a tweak or two.

There isn't much to say about Dunkin Donuts. It's a typical one with a good selection. The pricing is standard Dunkin. I like Dunkin Donuts so there isn't anything negative to say. There coffee is very good and I buy their brand for home.

Docs Smokehouse And Craft Bar

Reviewed By David W - Tulsa, Oklahoma

My Chicago nephews are big bar-b-q fans...and they absolutely love "Joe's Kansas City BBQ," in Kansas City, as do I. They have been telling me there is a place in the Chicago area that rivals KC BBQ. So, today was the day of reckoning! First and foremost, Doc's seems to be more of a sports bar, that has an incredible and huge craft beer selection, and is a bar-b-q restaurant. The place was very full as da Bears vs the Vikings were on the many TV's throughout Doc's. Doc's is excellent, but on a different level than "great" KC Q. I had sausage, brisket, and pulled pork. All were very good and presented nicely. KC, St Louis, Texas, Memphis, and the Carolina's all have their specific specialties as well as sauces/rubs that are unique to the area. While Doc's is very good, they have no specific identity that says "Chicago!" Instead, Doc's offers sauces from all the other famous American BBQ places. What Doc's does have that screams "Great and Unique" are their chicken wings. Their wings may be the best wings I have ever had. Not hot like Buffalo, nor covered in sauce...but, a straight ahead approach...a great rub, smoked, and then a quick deep fryer finish. They are served with a wonderful and very chunky blue cheese dressing. For a unique twist, utilize the various regional bbq sauces on the wings. I also tried a couple of the various craft beers...Doc's does beer "good" too! Doc's is a great sports bar...with a great craft beer selection...and has very good food.

Three Floyds Brewpub

Reviewed By Thomas E

Had high hopes for my visit to this brew pub but came away confused. The beer list is extensive (obviously, as it is attached to a well established brewery) but the cliche list of funky names masks the essence of the beer offerings.

That aside, the food selections were eclectic to say the least. The Scotch egg arrived at room temperature...not a great way to have sausage and eggs. Other selections were piping hot, giving the impression that food prep is irregular or careless.

Service was spotty and the heavy metal music along with clown horror movies playing on screens throughout the dining area left something to be desired.

Tomato Bar Pizza Bakery

Reviewed By Janice R - Schererville, Indiana

Went for a birthday celebration because we heard so many good things about the place. We were greeted and seated immediately. It was busy for a cold, rainy Sunday night. Thought they had a very nice selection of craft beers, wine and some cocktails. Choices were typical for a pizza restaurant -- wings, salad, sandwiches and pizza. The best part was the ability to build your own salad and pizza. Of course, the menu selections were more affordable, but if you want just one or two things on your salad or pizza, that is definitely the way to go. A large pizza was about $20.00, Honestly, not sure we will ever return, but if you haven't been, you should give it a try to make up your own mind.

Great Chef owned restaurant with delicious food. Large portions are standard with optional small portion versions on some entréés. Avoid prime dinner hours to reduce wait times since the location is not very large. They often have receptions or large parties in the separate dining room. Warm and cozy. Everything is good so order without worry.
