Ellwood Steak and Fish House

This place has excellent service and a solid fine dining menu. I do not eat red meat but the rest of my family does and have enjoyed everything from steaks to meatloaf and have raved about the lamb chops. I love the seafood, especially the scallops and salmon. Although a bit pricey, the bar serves small plates for $6 on Sunday through Thursday and it is a solid option for lighter fare at a good price. I will often get chicken skewers and a side baked potato for a full meal deal.

As an out of towner, I chose this restaurant because it was open and it served wine and beer. Lucky choice. the goat cheese appetizer was very good...and the prosciutto, apple and brie sandwich was a pleasant change of pace from the usual selections in a bar and restaurant.

Wait staff was pleasant; we were not hurried, but we were served quickly, thanks! It was late and we had just finished a 7 hour drive. I'd be happy to go again.

I took our college-aged son out to dinner here last night. Unremarkable appearance from the street, but like they say, appearances can be deceiving. We had very attentive wait staff from the time we came in -- 2 waitresses & they both took the time to check on all the diners. My son (who is just back from a college-related study in Thailand) had the Pad Thai, which he loved. I had the Chicken Delight, and it was excellent, but I wish I'd asked them to spice it up a little -- they are very mindful of Midwestern diners & it was not very spicy at all.
Before our dinner, we tried the "Crying Tiger" appetizer -- small strips of beef with a dipping sauce. It's a sauce that's made right on the premises, and it is delicious! I wish it were available commercially!
Most dinner entrees were priced at $12-15. Lunch menu on the back was less.
I'm so tempted to go back tonight & try something else!

We have eaten here many times just for breakfast. Food is good and a wide variety of offering. They bake their own bread and rolls. Fresh Cinnamon and Pecan rolls yum! Coffee is hot and they keep it coming. Nothing fancy but clean and homey and on the main St. so some times parking can be a problem. Worth a try.

This was a great experience from the beginning to the end. Parking was a little bit far away but overall a great time with my family. We had sweet potato tater tots as our appetizer, my husband had a couple of draft craft beers (including Gumballhead from 3 Floyd's and Citra-Hero from Revolution Brewing) and the Friday night fish fry special. My daughter had the original mac and cheese with bacon that was the most amazing comfort food ever created. The cheese strung from her fork four inches down to her place! I had the avocado ranch black bean burger and seasoned fries which was phenomenal! Our bill came to $63.49 before tip. Our waitress, Jessica, also gave great customer service throughout the evening. We will be back!

Pizza Villa

A family owned business that has been a staple of the community since 1956. We have 5 levels of dining including a banquet room and a game room. We specialize in thin crust pizza, our original villa nuggets, as well as pasta and broasted chicken.

Reviewed By Jennifer E - Rochelle, Illinois

Went to Pizza Villa with my family while my brother was visiting from MT. They were able to accommodate 16 of us, upstairs. The kids were able to play video games while waiting for the food to come out, so they were entertained. We ordered a taco pizza, a pepperoni pizza, the Villa special, and the chicken-bacon-ranch pizza. I thought the pizza tasted great; especially the chicken, bacon, ranch. The crust was thin and very cracker, crispy - although it was a little on the greasy side. The beer nuggets were delicious. The atmosphere was great. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was you have to order when we first walk in, unless you are ordering on one ticket. So if you're waiting for the late-comers, it's a pain.
