We were recommended this osteria by a nearby hotel whose restaurant was closed for the night. What a find! Very friendly, family run, extensive menu of local specialities. Pleasant outside covered conservatory, our dog was accepted in the dining area. We were offered home made salami as a pre starter which was delicious. Attentive friendly service and great value for money. Good wine list. We will certainly return when in the area.

Was very quiet when we arrived, very friendly, polite and professional service (especially as we don't speak much Italian). Couldn't decide on which prosecco, they suggested one as it was the most local, yummy. Reasonable size menu, delicious, fresh, girgous, excellently cooked scallops (10 of them!), ravioli (literally the best ravioli starter my husband has ever had, although as I had the same for a main it could have been slightly bigger) and fish (served at the table). Really enjoyed our evening and wished we could have returned, you must dine here!

This is one of my favorite patisseries anywhere. They have a great variety of products and their patisserie cream (custard) products are amazing. They use illy coffee which is smooth, free of acidity and so good it hardly needs sugar. They can be a bit off-handish, sometimes bordering on rude but just ignore it, the coffee and cakes here are worth it. They also provide a reasonable range of snacks and sweets (tramezzini, toasted sandwiches, chocolates, biscuits) but the fresh patisserie is where it's at try the bigne' (profiterol) and the crema (vanilla slice)... yum.

We were there to visit the castle and decided to get something to eat not expecting much. Boy were we wrong. Tried 3 things, all delicious and creatively prepared. Their take on caprese salad had the tomato sliced part way through and the mozzarella placed inside each cut. Shared a mixed veggie grill with perfectly cooked zucchini, eggplant and potato. The best perhaps was their salumi served over white polenta. Top notch. Pus you get a great view of the countryside

On an overcast miserable midday before going to the Carpaccio exhibition we had a good couple of Antipasti and Primi. The
waiter makes you feel at ease and obviously enjoys his work. Once a table came free it was quickly taken by new arrivals.
The only surprise is that there are as many Tuscan dishes as local ones.

Gennaro

Reviewed By Slash63 - Hobart, Tasmania

This pizzeria/restaurant is a must visit for anyone passing through Conegliano. It's located on a large road(Via Pontebbana ss13) in Conegliano between Treviso and Udine. You could walk to it by from the train station in Conegliano but it would take half an hour. I lived near Conegliano for several years and this pizzeria was one of my favorite eateries (and there are many very good ones in the surrounding areas). Gennaro originally came from near Napoli but the pizza served at Gennaro's today is more similar to the Roman style (very thin and not overburdoned with toppings). The base is delicious, crisp but at the same time elastic and always cooked perfectly in the wood fired oven. The mozzarella and other toppings are of excellent quality, fresh and tasty. There is a huge selection of dishes and pizza's on the menu. The pizza and other meals are honestly priced, the service is fast and courteous (although they may, at times, seem abrupt by anglosaxon standards... it's an italian thing).
If for some strange reason you're passing through Conegliano - I say this because tourists usually stick to Venice, Rome, Florence and the lake regions - , the town and surrounding hills are definately worth a visit... this place is virtually unknown to tourists and has a lot to offer; you should definately visit Gennaro's.

We visit this pizzeria every fortnight or so when we're in Conegliano, the pizza is always excellent, about 50c to E1 more than similar places but worth it for the quaint trattoria like decor. Service can be patchy bordering on rude, depending on the wait staff attending you on the night, but not bad by any means, and pretty much within the average for italian eateries. It's an easy 10 min walk from the centre or train station. The desserts here are the best of any pizzeria in Conegliano. Recommended.

The hotel we stayed at recommended that we try Stella which was a short walk. We went for an early dinner, thankfully because the place was full within a half hour. They offer a fixed price menu with a variety of choices. In a word- every cource was Excellent and reasonably priced. We tried the house wine which was decent and good value.
We definitely will go back.
