The building is older but the interior is clean including the restroom. The service was prompt and accommodating. My DQ Dude came out fresh and was cut in half as requested. The onion rings were crunchy. It was a lovely experience and DQ at its best.

Harvest

Reviewed By Arnold_Ziffel - Hurst, Texas

The building housing this restaurant had been left abandoned for a period of decades until a point where the roof collapsed. It looked a perfect candidate to be razed, and that nobody would spend what is required to return it to usable. Well SURPRISE! A previous owner did indeed return the building to usable space along with a couple of spaces next to them. They certainly put a new face on an eyesore of epic proportions. Then they opened up a diner which they didn't operate long enough to let the paint dry then closed it again. This was once the bank and then the dry cleaners leaving behind a very curious looking vault in the rear corner.

The owners of the Harvest moved to this city to open a restaurant and pursue a dream. I don't know how they acquired this facility but it was turn key ready to serve food. This place is the highest class eating this town has seen probably ever. They have a very diverse menu of simple to complex dishes, and their prices are not cheap but they won't break the bank either. The place offers full table service with courteous well informed servers using nice tableware and fresh, new dining tables and seating. The whole place is new and inviting.

It's the place to see and be seen in this town and it's a personal thing that that's not a selling point for me. I can't visit there without it turning into a visiting session with everyone I've ever known since being hatched. I can't complain about the food at all with maybe an exception of too much salt in every dish. I've ordered sandwiches and pasta dishes and steaks which I was pleased with, and their French fries are exceptionally crisp and good. Their salads are appealing and beautiful.

If you're in Comanche and wanting some place decent to go this is the only choice in town. They outperform every other eatery in this town on all fronts. I'd recommend them to another just about any time, and I know I'll end up in there again before too long, regardless of how much I'm in a hurry and don't want the fanfare. It's the only professionals offering food in Comanche since Jesus was in diapers.

The family that moved here to start this place certainly knew what they were doing when they got here. They are a very welcome and needed compliment to a small town that has been largely abandoned by all restaurateurs from a day gone by. I hope they'll be profitable enough to want to remain there for a very extended period.

I notice no negative reviews at all, and I can say they earned that one meal at a time.

We were driving through Comanche on our way home from Colorado and looking for a place to have a late lunch. My internet provider did not have coverage there, so I couldn't access TripAdvisor. We stopped and asked a local on the street, and he sent us to Rockin J's. We were a bit hesitant. It isn't appealing on the outside. Our experience turned out to be a pleasant one, however. We had catfish which was really good, and our service could not have been better. Highly recommend this place!

Miguel's Restaurant

We are located on the main street in Comanche. We are a totally smoke free restaurant. We have a tipi out front with lifesize Indians inside. People may ask why, but we are the Home of the Comanche Indians. We specialize in the flavors of the southwest along with homemade american food. We take pride in our food and our excellent service. We have been in business 26.years and hope to see you !

I love Miguel's chips and queso with sweat tea its a must have if eating here! Service is always fast and friendly. The fajitas and fajita nachos are in my opinion their best plates, though I have never gotten anything that didn't taste good from here. If you prefer authentic Mexican food over tex-mex then this probably wont be your favorite.

Starbeaus

Reviewed By Arnold_Ziffel - Hurst, Texas

I’ve been in this place a few times over a period of years since it’s opened. It’s always been good enough considering the size of the community it serves. It’s not remarkable in any way, nor has it ever been. This is a one-man show; a sole entrepreneur and restaurateur trying to make a living selling comfort foods.

The owner is the chef, and the book keeper, and the menu planner. He’ll have one table server on duty when he’s open. If there’s any one thing that’s synonymous with Star Beau’s it got to be that he’s slow. Every order is prepared just for you, and when the place gets full, he gets backed up very fast.

I was in there for lunch and ordered a pasta dish. I fully expected to get fettuccine, and I was very surprised to be served spaghetti alfredo with grilled chicken. His chicken was good enough, and the dish tasted pretty good. However, alfredo sauce and grilled chicken really does need the flat fettuccine noodles, and it does make a difference. I never noticed if the menu specified spaghetti, and I didn’t send it back. But, it certainly wasn’t what I was expecting, and the cost of keeping an extra kind of pasta on hand virtually nothing.

The portion size was generous, as everything I’ve ever bought from them was. I also bought a slice of coconut pie with meringue topping which was very good. Very few restaurants these days will go to the trouble to make meringue because it weeps, and you can’t keep it overnight in salable condition. I did not leave there hungry.

I wasn’t unhappy with what I got, but I was very surprised with the noodle type. Considering the environment in which they are doing business, I can recommend them, and I would come back. That being said, anyone who goes in there should plan an extra few minutes to eat on the off chance he’s really busy. They are adequate at their fastest speed, and it just gets slower the busier they get. If they were relocated into a larger city they would have to deliver more to survive, but it’s OK for where it is and what it does.

Located in a historic bank building that’s been out of service since 1969, the building needs someone to love it. I’m sure it’s leased, but the interior is less than appealing. The paint is badly peeling from the windows, and the ceiling tiles have fallen down from leaking, and just been pasted back up. It’s disappointing to see a historic building allowed to erode as badly as this one has. I don’t think the restaurant has any input on the building condition, but the inside of it needs to be freshened up, because it’s not a very appealing place for a public dining room.

Was taken here by a well meaning family member who wanted to share his discovery of really great fried catfish. To a large person, who loves catfish, I couldn't wait.
Disappointment, shock, this catfish just barely made the Okay Status. It was fried to long and pieces cut to small.
Self served - there was also fried chicken strips (no white cream gravy) and several other items, but who cared. The thought of unlimited fried catfish was gone, what disappointment. It just wasn't that good.

Being a local, I regularly dine, here. It is always clean and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The interior is uniquely decorated and there is always someone I know in the dining room. For those who feel the need to show off their skills, there are two billiard tables to challenge your peers on. The restrooms are small but always clean. For food, the quality is always good and it's fresh, too, made while you wait. They have takeout, too, for the hurried bunch who cannot stay. Personally, I recommend the supreme pizza. I've never had a bad one. If you are looking for something quick, fresh, and tasty, try Pizza Pro!

This place was a big disappointment. Already I avoid tex-mex places because of their passionate love of hiding lard in their recipes. Add to that the fact their core ingredients are the lowest grades of food available, and it’s easy to determine I don’t need to eat that.

Los Juanes is one of a few choices in this little farming community with table service. The outside of the place does not make one want to go inside and eat. The front door is a residential entry door that hasn’t seen any paint, or even cleaner in months. It’s grubby to worn bare around the door handle from usage.

This was once a Premier gas station, and little has been done to mask off it’s past. The ceilings are low, the furnishings austere, and the place looks generally cheap. If there were any other table service dining available I would have walked out.

I ordered some kind of lunch plate with a minimum of cheese, which amounted to a taco and a beef enchilada. I told the server I didn’t want any beans (lard) which didn’t get me an offer of a substitute side. But, when reading the menu was astonished at the attempts to nickel and dime the customer for every possible thing, such as $0.75 for water with a slice of lemon, and $1.50 to remove the bell pepper and onion from some recipes. Anywhere else these things are not chargeable items, and it left me feeling gouged before I even ordered.

They’ve got cement floors, and between the kids in there shrieking and laughing, and the television playing sports I couldn’t hear it thunder in there. I asked to be seated in the side room behind a door and they refused. It takes the same amount of time to clean a table over there as it does over here, and this declaration was not well received.

The food was average, although their taco shell was light and crispy. Too bad the chips and salsa appetizer wasn’t as fresh. My enchilada was nothing remarkable, but nothing bad either. My guest said the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce were good enough. I wonder if they think I’m impressed with the fact they used cloth napkins? That sure didn’t overcome the other shortcomings.

The prices are high for what you’re getting, and after reading the menu I felt I was in a place that’s looking for a get rich quick scheme on the customer’s back. It depends on what else is available, but under normal conditions I can’t recommend this place, and it’s assured I won’t be back, unless forced. The only time it’s OK is when you can’t stand another meal in a sack, and there’s nothing else available. The whole town has so few choices that this condition arises often enough.

There was no good reason why we were refused to be seated in the quiet room, and I can’t forgive that. It’s personal choice that I refuse to patronize selfishness like that.
