This joint is good for breakfast and evening snacks.The place is situated on the main road so not difficult to locate but the best thing is its tea/coffee. We had our best tea/coffee here, don't miss it. Food is good but the place is little conjusted, service needs to be improved.

The place as recommended as a must visit in chikmagalur during our visit. It was very crowded, but we managed to share a table with an aged gentleman luckily. The recommended dosas were good, but not something to die for and expensive as well for a place like that.

Very nice food in the town
Escpecially non veg fare
The Maharaja special biryani was nice medium spicy chicken pieces succulent
The chicken 65 is also good
Also try the chicken pepper fry
Moderately priced
The bill for 3 people was around 500

During our Chikmagalur stay we decided to indulge in a dinner at The Serai. The decore is good, some of the food counters were in the center and others were on one side. They had a live counter for pav bhaji as well, the taste of which was just about ok.
Variety was decent enough, they had 3-4 salads, a mix of about 4 veg and non veg starters. Taste was ok, but what bugged us off was the food was cold..
Not just the starters, a lot of the main course as well.
Why are you charging 1000+ per head and serving cold food???
The taste of the food also was just about average, no dish dazzled. Desserts were better than the mains and we ordered for a cocktail which was also not perfectly mixed.
Service was alright, but then because of the mediocre food, the value for money was rather low.
Not worth coming specially for a meal here. The restaurant at Taj Chikmagalur had better food..

Tried the restaurant as it was close to the hotel we were staying in...the food itself is pretty decent as compared to some of other restaurants which we ate at...the only challenge is that they were understaffed which resulted in large waiting time for everything we wanted

Vegetarian only restaurants are a premium in this town.
The restaurant is in such an excellent location but yet the food is lacklustre.
We ordered South Indian meals and chapati curry. The south indian thali was mediocre at best, a taste that you could not place well. The chapathi were quite dry and it was tough to finish.

Very good taste at best fares. We didn't go the restaurant but had varieties of tiffins (bonda rasam, dosa idly Semite etc etc). Best place to have a quick stomach filler at very reasonable prices

we visited this place twice during our 2 days stay at chikmagalur. This hotel serves Punjabi & south Indian cuisines. I would say taste was not great but it was good. This is very pocket friendly restaurant with billing of less than 150 rupees per head.
