Randy's Ribs & Barbecue

Reviewed By Ark_Trav - Washington DC

We found Randy's Ribs when we moved to the area 15 years ago. It's still a take-out BBQ joint, but now they do have some picnic tables and they take credit cards now.

Excellent ribs and BBQ. They also have pulled pork, shredded pork, sliced beef and sometimes shredded chicken. The shredded chicken sandwich has been the only thing I wasn't wild about - it was a bit dry.

Randy's has a variety of sides in three different sizes. Some of my favorites are the baked beans, green beans and collard greens.

It's just a small place on the right side of the road on Route 5 North, between Hughesville and Waldorf, MD. Doesn't have too large a sign, so look for it. It's great BBQ!

Fiesta Cafe

The clean, spare look of the inside does not handicap this establishment at all! In fact, it is a great backdrop for the delicious, straightforward fresh dishes they concoct while you relax and enjoy some salsa music and you can already feel like you are on vacation somewhere, attending a local fiesta! Yes, the chimichangas are good if you like that sort of thing, but check out their array of beverages and it will take you away from your weekday work grind!

Pretty good Tex-Mex type food. We were there with a big group of adults and kids and the servers were very friendly with everyone. The food is standard fare taco, burrito, etc. type stuff, but again, pretty good.

River's Edge Restaurant

Reviewed By Dave's_reviews - Philadelphia, PA

This place looks like it's been here for years, and definitely takes you back in time. The menu is almost strictly "old time" Chesapeake seafood: crabcakes, fried oysters, broiled scallops, crab soup, etc. It's all very tasty. The restaurant feels a bit worn, but has nice river views. Service was efficient. My only hesitation in recommending the place is that it feels a bit expensive -- largely because Chesapeake seafood IS expensive. But they do participate in restaurant.com, so grab a discount certificate and have a traditional local meal at a reasonable price.

Ledo Pizza

Reviewed By FHBuff - Knightdale, North Carolina, United States

On our trip that took us through Charlotte Hall we stopped at Ledo Pizza, which has a good reputation as a chain from our Maryland friends.

The stop was at 2 and past the rush, so plenty of staff were going about their business causally. My wife and I split a small square pizza and we ordered kids meals for our two sons.

Kids meals $4.99 on menu or 9$9.98 total. We paid $16.34. How you might ask? the server charged us for drinks that she said were included (lemonade for the fountain, so nothing exotic) her excuse was we ordered the drinks before the meal and a different cup was used. That was $2.38 of the cost. On the menu, it said the kids get a dessert. We asked for one after the meal and she blankly looked at us. We asked about ice cream, which she brought the kids. When the bill had extra $4.98 on it, we pressed her on the charge. She told us the dessert was usually a couple of cookies or something, but they were out of them.

We could tell this was going nowhere and just paid and left. My wife, a former server, left what must be the lowest tip she could manage.

This is most likely a poor staff problem, but I always trace that back to management.

If you stop in here and Carly is your server, politely ask for a different server or think about another dining option in the area.
