Looking for somewhere to eat in Castletownbere we chanced upon this restaurant. It doesn't look much from the outside but we hadn't found anything else that had appealed to us so gave it a chance. Very pleasantly surprised the food and service were good and was excellent value for money. Few people eating in the restaurant but a steady steam using the takeaway service.

We stopped in to say hi since some friends had recommended the cafe. We had some lovely conversations with the owners and were told about a lake and stone circle that we wouldn't have seen without their help. After touring the ring of Beara we went back for dinner. Anne Marie makes a wonderful fish and chips that should be topped off with the sticky toffee pudding. The locals seem to love to have a drink and some conversation here. We will go here again if we are lucky enought o return to this beautiful peninsula.

We have holidayed on the Beara Peninsula for years, so were delighted to discover the Berehaven Lodge. Location wise it's completely idyllic, and the food is magnificent. The menu has something for everyone, but the steak was a winner for us. Cooked on an outdoor BBQ with delicious sides such as homemade coleslaw and salad perfect for teenage boys . To start we had the mussels in a delicious sauce, I'm a foodie and they were the best I've ever eaten. Dessert was lemon posset. ..divine.We ate several nights including pizza and pasta night which was great for kids , I m already planning my 50th party there, as the cottages look equally fab! In short everyone will love this place because it's simply so good. ..

Floury Hands Cafe & Bakery

Reviewed By HOS70 - Kenmare, Ireland

Whilst shopping in Bantry today, we again called into Floury Hands for a quick lunch. As always, the Seating areas (limited Seating downstairs, plenty of Seating upstairs) were almost entirely occupied with the usual mix of locals and tourists which we find the perfect recommendation for any restaurant.
Floury Hands offer only a limited menu but there should be something on it for every taste. From soup to amazing, freshly made "door-stop" sandwiches (made with real bread, no thin sliced pan here, thank you very much); to Quiche Lorraine or goat's cheese tartlets; to paninis and wraps and house-made salads, everything is fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. For desserts or afternoons, there is a tempting range of home-made cookies and cakes. Tea and coffee of all sorts are very nice; service is friendly and swift.
We have been to Floury Hands before and will certainly be back again. If you're after a quick, tasty and unpretentious lunch or a well located spot for a sweet afternoon treat, you could do a whole lot worse than to call to Floury Hands (if you can get parking in Bantry, that is).

Very atmospheric and cosy bar with friendly service. Great history attached to the place also. Pints of Murphys were great, and they have a grocery attached which is the way of the old pubs. Some outdoor Seating also and with a view of the town square.
