This is a cozy restaurant located in the quiet Ostrau neighborhood. I had the sauerbraten with red cabbage and found it to be excellent. The owners, a husband and wife, were very welcoming and helped me practice my German for a half hour past closing time. Each meal is individually prepared from scratch. Plus, the wine and beer list was excellent for a such a small restaurant.

Thev restaurant is in a lovely place with all the views plus it is sheltered so no trouble with weather. The food itself is marvelous and no hesitations :) The service could be a little faster and in my point the wine is too expensive....MoreThank you very much for your review. Hope to see you soon! Best regards, Kerstin Meve-Garreis

My girlfriend had to watch the soccer game so we got pizza and wine to go. Friendly staff (no TV so they were not distracted by the soccer game) and an interesting spice to the pizza dough which was thicker than in most pizza places in Germany.

The restaurant (and hostel) lie remotely in the middle of a National Park (Sächsische Schweiz). Cars are not allowed. Hikers coming through might expect little more than drinks and some quick snacks such as soups and sausages. It comes as a surprise to find a varied menu, with some interesting dishes.
The chef and employees take great pride in their cuisine, which is prepared using mostly organic ingredients. The menu might best be described as "creative German" food.
A very good place to return to after a long day of hiking or climbing!
The restaurant is surrounded by high trees, so the view from the actual Terrace itself is limited. Located at the summit of a mountain you need only a short walk in any direction to find great views!

I honestly don't understand why this place has good reviews. Unless you are a bio-fanatic, don't go. We had two dishes, some vegetarian lasagne that were awful, the tomato sauce was acid, like squeezing a lemon in your mouth. On the other hand the veal was overcooked, with a side dish of polenta spätzle that was like chewing gum. Terrible. The location... All made of wood(I guess bio wood) and chairs with the seat made of (bio) cow leather. Quite horrible. The waiters are literally dressed as penguins, really formal. Thus one would expect a formal service, forget it. The service u will get is McDonald level. Finally the price are too high. We spent 50€ with two main dishes and two beers. I would have liked a dessert, just to avoid eating chips back at the hotel, they don't have. Unless you consider vanilla ice cream a dessert.
The place looks ambitious and formal, but the only thing they have of an high level restaurant are the clothes of the waiters. Food is just not good. Never again.

On our way to Prague along the Elbe River we had lunch in this small restaurant in Bad Schandau, run by the cook and his wife. Good and friendly service and very much enjoyed their platter of Trout a la Meunière. Well priced and a good place for a stopover during midday.

We were looking for a place to eat and this ordinary-looking place has a very attractive menu - fish and meat with very attractive accompaniments. We were lucky to get the last table.
We were so hungry that we started eating cakes while waiting for our main course - the home made cakes are to die for -- the meals even more so.
It was so good that we booked a table to return the next day -- but was told that the only time with a free table available was at 5pm. We took it and had another hearty meal with no regret of having to eat earlier than usual.

This restaurant from outside it might also look good, but it is not. Food quality is average, it does not taste bad but is expensive for what u get. The main issue was the waiter. Every time he step by the table it was like having a huge ashtray next to us. Definetely disgusting. When we wanted to pay it was difficult to find a waiter to ask the bill.. They were all outside, the chef as well, smoking. Disgusting. Two stars just because I have seen worst in Bad Schandau. Make yourself a favor, get a Sandwich for dinner.
