Everyone is friendly and inviting...but Tiffany is my favorite. You would think she is a member of the family with the way she interacts with you and your table. Everything on the menu is wonderful. Each dish better than the next. Make sure to listen to the specials. No matter what you choose you will NOT be disappointed. It's an old school restaurant with a modern twist with old school values and top notch staff. You will not be able to clean your plate, as the portions are huge. Don't miss the opportunity to eat hear. If it is crowded, which it is often, because, yes it is that good, it can be a bit loud/noisy, but this is typical of old style Italian culture. Just like Sunday dinner at home growing up.

Del Buono's Bakery

Del Buono's changed hands a few years ago but the new owner kept a lot of the charm of the place. It is an old-time bakery for rolls and buns (though they add more sweets all the time and their sticky buns are sooo good). There is a big oven that you can watch the rolls exiting, and conveyor belts that run around the store which transport the rolls. The prices are fantastic and you can't beat a roll still warm from baking.

We ate here for lunch on a weekend and didn't realize they would be serving brunch. This was not an issue and the waiter provided us a lunch menu where most items were available to order. The service here was excellent and the food was good. One thing I didn't care for was the door to the kitchen looked very dirty.

We had dinner here on a Tuesday night and good thing we made reservations as they were very busy. We were warmly greeted by the owner/hostess and seated on arrival. We started with the portobello mushrooms with melted cheeses and rose sauce. Unique and very good. Bread was also brought to the table. Butter and Olive oil - but no balsamic vinegar. We also had bruschetta, antipasto, and marinated carrots. My wife had the special - lobster and seafood with cavatelli pasta in a rose sauce and I had the Vitello Mare e Monti, veal medallions with jumbo shrimp, prosciutto with cheese and a mushroom demiglasse. Everything was great, timed well and the service was very good. A real bonus was being able to bring our own wine which they allow and do not charge a corkage fee. This makes for a great meal at a very reasonable total cost. My wife appreciated they left the small bowl of parmigiana-reggiano cheese on the table when the main courses were served. We shared a chocolate lovers cake for dessert that was very good. Overall this was a great dinner in a warm atmosphere at very good prices.

First time visitors from out of state. Extensive menu covering all the food groups. Very capable waiter helped explain the nuances hidden within (mini meal vs early bird). Our meals came with two sides, soup, salad, and dessert. Talk about FULL. But wait. Yours truly was eating light that night and opted for the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Check out the picture. Not only did we think this was the salad bowl for the table, but also for the next two tables - enormous. Food was prepared as ordered and served in a very timely fashion. Never once did we have to ask for refills of our water glasses. Impressive Diner on our short list for return visits.

I went in to the Pop Shop because they were on Food Network's Smackdown with Bobby Flay many years ago, in a grilled cheese battle...and I love grilled cheese! So here's the scoop:

The menu is huge and varied. You will find many kinds of omelettes and pancakes and other breakfast, lunch and dinner options. There are 33 grilled cheese options, and I wanted to try most of them! They have tons of milkshake and sundae options for dessert as well. They even have several vegan options! So if you like a big variety from which to choose, this is your place!

The atmosphere is definitely diner-y. Kitschy wall decor (lots of non-working wall clocks, for example), counter and table seating, and a black and white checked floor all add up to a nostalgic experience. It was not memorable or striking the way some restaurants that are 100% dedicated to their theme are, but it was fine. I definitely noticed a need for attention to detail in cleanliness throughout - both in the Customer areas and behind the counter.

The service appeared to be very busy - although there were multiple tables empty. So this was not a sell-out night. In fact, it was a Thursday night in a school week, so I am sure they have busier times. But unfortunately for me, they were not managing the flow very well. I waited at the takeout register, and was approached to place my order after a few minutes, but in fairness, I couldn't wrap my head around the number of choices in the menu. I asked for a couple of minutes more. I was not approached again for at least 20 more minutes. Several servers walked up right near me, but no one asked if I was all set. I believe they assumed someone else had taken my order, but I feel this was a big miss as taking your Customer's order is Takeout 101, right?

I ordered the "Magill", which is a three-cheese grilled cheese. I made a substitution of asking for it on the "grilled split Philadelphia soft pretzel" that was described in another sandwich. I also ordered a key lime milkshake, disco fries, and a green river fountain soda - all from the menu. My order wasn't complicated (in my opinion), but I got the milkshake after 15 minutes and the rest after 25 minutes...a very long time to wait, especially as it had taken so long to take the order in the first place.

Here's the problem - I could accept the mediocre decor, the loud atmosphere, the wait time and everything else, if the food was great. It wasn't. The "grilled...soft pretzel" was not soft at all, and neither was it grilled. There three cheeses were not even close to being melted. The Disco Fries consisted of mozzarella melted over fries with a side of gravy. The gravy had a rich taste though it was not very thick. I liked it. The cheese on the fries was melted, however, it seemed like the fries were made first before the sandwich, since the cheese on the fries was cold and the gravy barely warm. Served hot, this could be a pretty good dish - served cold as mine was, it is just a congealed mess. The key lime milkshake was okay - better than Sonic, but not as good as other ice cream parlors. I just didn't taste the lemon and lime flavors very strongly that were advertised . Lastly, there was much confusion over the green river soda, although it is a regular menu item. Several folks had to get involved to figure out how to make it. Turns out they use Sprite with lime syrup and a "shot of fizz", but they didn't seem to know the proportions or what a "shot of fizz" was. What I got was Sprite with a little lime syrup and a gummy worm tossed in...I have no idea why. I hate waste, but there wasn't any point in drinking the soda, so I threw the rest of it away after tasting it a few times. It was ok, but didn't taste like Green River (a Chicago specialty soda), and wasn't worth the calories.

I wanted to like this place and wish I wanted to go back - if only to let my family try things from such an extensive menu. Sadly, I would not recommend the Pop Shop's food nor speed of service. Maybe they had an off-night, but my vision of a great grilled cheese and diner experience was "pop"ped.

We visited at lunch to check it out before we invited friends to join us for their Oktoberfest celebration. It is a very attractive restaurant. It was not very busy at lunchtime during the week. My husband was happy with all the beers on tap, including some craft brews. Our server provided several samples so he could be sure he really enjoyed his beer. Menu has appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers and entrees. I had the Cuban sandwich. It was really delicious. I could only eat half but my husband finished it for me. He's a beef eater and actually liked my sandwich more than his roast beef sandwich. We returned with friends for their Oktoberfest on Sunday. They had an all you can eat buffet for $20. Buffet had coleslaw, cucumber salad, brats, knock wurst, hot dogs, potatoe pancakes, spatzel, German potato salad. Food was very good. Three piece band provided live music. Desserts were not included but we did try them. I had a Black Forest strudel. It was good . They do have a liquor license.

I absolutely adore this bakery. Their cupcakes are beautiful, delicious and inexpensive. They have a large selection of butter cookies with seasonal designs and color schemes. I think my favorite thing here are their individual desserts. They have some of the prettiest, tastiest specialty desserts in the area. Always friendly service!
