La Truie qui Doute

We came upon this restaurant while looking for somewhere to have lunch without any firm ideas of where to go. It proved to be a real treat. We were greeted by a very young Maitre d' who had all the skills and savoir faire of someone of the old school. The menu was extensive and everything looked delicious although we restricted ourselves to a couple of excellent salads. We were made to feel that we were welcome and important clients which in this day and age is sadly not always the case. Although next to the main road, traffic noise was not intrusive, perhaps because of the nearby roundabout. We were sorry that we were moving on otherwise we would certainly have returned for dinner. Be sure to ask why the restaurant has such a curious name - I doubt if you would guess.

Saveurs du Sud

This trendy restaurant proposes typical local food. Sitting in the street, you watch cars (few !) passing and one feels like in south Italy, really “on vacation”. The tables placed on asphalt are light and not really stable... be careful to not have your wine on the trousers. Service was very friendly and efficient; the food is served rather rapidly. That day we decided to go for duck breast. We would suggest the waiter stresses it is typically served very (but very) raw and asks if some guest would not prefer it less raw... For the rest, the preparations were very tasty and we are convinced, made from fresh products. Attention, payment only in cash. This deserves to be changed.

Come and enjoy a wonderful relaxing moment in a quirky location in the old part of Anduze, listening to the water play in the Fountain and tasting our fabulous range of Jing teas, Lavazza coffees and English cakes.

It's a great place to go for a cupa and some home made cakes, you can also have a good chat with the two lovely girls that run the place and with whoever is there relaxed and cosy with a beautiful old square in the heart of Anduze not forgetting the upstairs wide selection of books

La Grange de Labahou

Reviewed By Michael S - Senglea, Malta

We visited La Grange de Labahou with friends from the area during a very cold day in January. We couldn't have asked for better. Not a small, hot and stuffy place, but a large family style restaurant with the two owners paying particular attention to each customer, no matter how busy they were.
Isabel and Frank run the restaurant and explain that their previous restaurant was lost in the floods of 2002. We got to hear about their trials and tribulations in getting this place started and keeping up with the bills and insurance payments from the previous place, all making you feel like you belong to the family.
There is an ardoise (menu board for starters, main and desserts and the main menu) with a seasonal choice. Between us we selected stuffed mussels, risotto, oysters over leeks and a fantastic feuilleté a escargot that was to die for. I'm drooling as I write this! For the main meal we dined on the souris d'agneau, cabillaud piece du boucher du jour, and a veal picatta that were all out of this world. I hardly remember what everyone had for desert, but besides the crème caramel (my friend said it was the best she ever had) Isabelle came by with a big pottery bowl and offered us home made madeleines to go with our coffee. Excruciating to resist!!
I will definitely go back here in the Summer, as the outside Terrace is shaded for the hot days and there's a reflecting pool surrounded by large bamboo which is sure to keep the days cool while eating outside.
The place is not easy to find if you're looking for it just off the road. It sits in an artisanal zone and is out of the way. To get there, when you leave Anduze, follow the direction of Saintt Jean du Gard, but don't cross the river. You will pass a pottery place and then arrive at a roundabout. Turn left and then drive down the avenue of trees. There is a building at the end of this boulevard which is La Grange de Labahou. Plenty of parking!
I highly recommend this place if you are in the area for not just it's food, but the genuine ambiance you'll find here.

La Rocaille

This looks a very popular restaurant right in the middle of Anduze. Couples, families, large groups can find what they need here. The food is rather simple, no gourmet cuisine here but superb place to dinner after a walk in the area. Service is efficient, explanations are provided accurately. The menus proposed are copious and rather inexpensive. In the past, the pâté was à volonté, presently the portion is limited but largely sufficient. The waiters are very friendly and they really run… Impressive! So, we recommend the place for a rapid, inexpensive, tasty - without being gastronomic - dinner…

On the main square in Anduze this is a great place to people watch.
Our dinner was €26 for 2 courses. We both chose the magret de canard and asked for it to be pink-and it was perfectly cooked.it was served with delicious creamy mash, a mushroom sauce & a selection of veg-green beans, artichoke & broad beans.
Our puds of creme brûlée & ice cream were v good.
Overall a delicious meal faultlessly presented. A great place to eat.

We were recommended to this restaurant for lunch by a local and were not disappointed. The food was extremely well presented, tasty and good value and the service was excellent. The Roquefort quiche was particularly good as was the vegetarian platter. It lies just of the main square in the old town, we'll away from the gaggle of establishments on the main street.

This was originally an Auberge but under the care of Karine and husband chef Stephane has bloomed into a small hotel in a beautiful position just outside of the main town. Excellent restaurant and beautiful rooms, swimming pool, terraces and private parking. Truly wonderful staff who all display the same high service standard a real gem. We stayed 3 nights and could happily stayed longer.

L'escapade

We ended up eating here as it was still open and serving food at 14:30 - a massive good point. And they had a high-chair, really quite unusual in this part of France.
However...
Slow food can be great - it is just better to have the wait after the food has been served rather than before your order has been taken. And forgotten.
Balsamic dressing is not something I have previously thought of as a labour saving device - but here it is used to hide the fact that washing the mud off lettuce is too onerous.
