Cipollina Rustic Italian Kitchen

Cipollina Rustic Italian Kitchen is the newest endeavor by Laurie Bordonaro Mozee (owner of Guy’s Subs) and Chef Jerry Clementi (former owner of Cafe Aroma and Trattoria Aroma). Laurie and Jerry met more than fifty years ago over a dish a pasta at their grandparents’ house. Being cousins brought up in first generation Italian households, Laurie and Jerry are no strangers to authentic Italian cuisine. Chef Jerry Clementi creates art with his breathtaking food. Look no further than Cipollina’s customers for proof of Chef Jerry’s prowess: The first bite of every dish provokes an “ahhh” reaction from diners on a regular basis. The ambiance of the room makes you feel relaxed and at home as soon as you step through the door. One wall is home to a beautiful mural painted by Keith Bordonaro, Laurie’s brother. The opposite wall is decorated with pictures of Laurie’s parents (Sam and Neda Bordonaro) at their wedding, surrounded by family members. The photographs, taken on July 22, 1946, capture pure joy and love; these feelings radiate throughout Cipollina. Why the name Cipollina? Laurie’s grandmother, Fermina Cheavacci, always called her granddaughter “cipollina,” an Italian word which means “little onion.” The term of endearment is a fond memory of Fermina and a testament to the strong familial bonds out of which the restaurant has grown. A restaurant with a unique warmth and cuisine that lingers in your memory long after the last bite, Cipollina Rustic Italian Kitchen is a truly unforgettable dining experience.

We hesitated to give this a five star review because it is so perfect. Would like to keep it to ourselves. It was so nice to be at a reasonably priced restaurant where you could actually have a conversation. Excellent food, made to order, beautifully presented with attentive, prompt service to boot. The bread basket, salmon, pasta, burrata , beet salad and the chocolate hazelnut torte were all absolutely delicious. Kudos to the chef and owner who were on site making sure the meals were enjoyable for all.

The packaging the pastries were in smelled like cigarette smoke. The smell is over powering. I do not like my food to smell like that.

I've been going to this restaurant for the past 20 years and they remain a great value with consistent food quality. Now what they have is standard American fare in generous portions. If you are hoping for gormet food or an alcoholic beverage this is not the place for you. But if you want warmth, home town feel and food that your Grandma would have made for you....then this definitely is the place for you.

I have family that moved away from the area, and a visit to guys is always on the list when they're in town! The locals absolutely love this place! They have great bread, nice meats and fresh veggies, and a nice homemade touch. They also offer gluten free buns. If you're looking for a diamond in the rough for lunch, this is the place!

Stopped in for some craft ales here after I realized this place is open! This used to be the Akron House, a run down eatery but has since transformed into a nice ale house. I hope this place expands and start hosting events (maybe it already has?) as I will gladly stop in again next time I'm in town! This is a historical building from what I gathered. I believe Samuel Clemens himself frequented this building when it used to be a casino.

Mooney's Bar & Grill

Reviewed By pitman44

We actually went Friday night and Saturday for lunch. I had the beer battered fish and my wife had the panko crusted. Both were very good. They came with delicious fries, cole slaw and macaroni salad. The cole slaw as tasty and my wife said the mac salad was very good as well. Mac salad one of my favorites. :)

We went back for lunch the next day to try the mac and cheese which is what Mooney's is known for. We ordered a nacho supreme for an appetizer and the regular mac and cheese to share. I knew we were in trouble when the waitress came with the nachos. It was HUGE. And very tasty. We ate a little of the mac and cheese and brought the rest home.

Honestly I was a little disappointed in the mac and cheese after all the hype. Don't get me wrong it tasted very good, but I have had much better. Personally I wouldn't make a special trip for the mac and cheese. I would make a special trip for the fish tho. And the fish is only there on Friday nights.
