Top 10 Resorts in Okanagan Valley, Canada

May 28, 2023 Layne Dawes

The Okanagan Valley, in the interior of British Columbia, is a popular Canadian vacation destination known for skiing in the winter and watersports in the summer. The area's quaint towns and lush vineyards are connected by a network of clear blue lakes and rivers and surrounded by rolling, sun-dappled hills. Head to Kelowna for one of several wine festivals or to Penticton for the sugary summer Peach Festival. To the south is Osoyoos, home to an arid desert filled with rare plants and animals.

Watch what room you book, and how the room is described. I booked a suite with a King bed and a Queen bed, what we got is a king bed and a pull out couch for $250.00 a night. After I approached the front desk they really did not have a resolution for me, that is until my husband intervened. We were moved to a room with 2 queen beds for the same price. We traveled over Easter weekend and chose to stay at the Holiday Inn. I felt that we would be getting a good hotel for our money choosing the Holiday Inn brand. The rooms are remolded, but poorly and the television would only work for 5 mins at a time. The WiFi is horrible and the restaurant is subpar. For the cost of the Hotel a continental breakfast probably should be offered. I think the next time I book a hotel, I will book at the super 8 and save my money or if you want a higher end hotel suite I suggest the Water Mark beach resort or the Spirit ridge resort.

We just had a three night stay here and totally enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean and fully equipped with everything you might need. The pool area was lovely. All the outside areas including the beach was very clean. The bbqs were great and we made good use of them. Parking convenient, underground and no charge. My only comment would be the staff. Most were absolutely friendly, helpful, cheery good mornings..... but we had a couple that I would not describe as rude but very aloof with one word answers. But with that said, that is a minor comment as most were so helpful. We are glad we discovered this place and will definetly be back. Highly Recommend.

Great resort booked from a terrible company.

Reviewed By Escape278679

I booked this trip with RCI and they are incompetent idiots. This is the third time that RCI failed to inform the resort of my reservation. This happened on a Sunday, and RCI is closed on Sunday, (A company of that size should not be closed on Sunday), so the manager of the resort could not fix the reservation until the next day. Luckily for me, the manager by the name of Allison, was very efficient and straightened out the reservation the next day and I had to change rooms. But for the inconvenience she bought me dinner. It’s too bad RCI doesn’t have competent employees like that.

Kitchen is very modern and even if furniture is quite dated, it was clean. I enjoyed my stay and would come back again. I definitely recommend the place. Pool is a great addition to the hotel and so glad it is open at this time.

Horrendous check-in and stay

Reviewed By birthdaygirl3055

My family made a reservation early fall 2021 and unfortunately opted for a non-refundable booking. The reservation stated check-in was from 3-5pm. We arrived to check in at 3:30pm and were told our room wasn't ready because someone had put another guest's baggage in our room. We were told that it would take only a few minutes for our room to be disinfected and then we could check in. We waited over 45 minutes and watched housekeeping enter and exit the room with vacuums, bedding and towels - clearly our room was not ready for our check-in time and we were lied to by the owner checking us in. After waiting close to 45 minutes and being lied to repeatedly by the owner, I told the owner we would not be staying due to the poor service. He replied that he was fine with that, but we would still be charged for the room because we booked a non-refundable room. I explained that our contract included a non-refundable room available at 3pm and he did not uphold his end of the deal. He told me that was my problem and to take it up with my credit card company. Against my better judgement, we decided to stay. We then spent another half an hour waiting for the owner to figure our where the second key to the room was - yes! they still use regular keys. The owner told me I was being unreasonable that I wanted him to find the second key before we put our belongings in the room. We eventually got into the room where the floor squeaked so loudly in so many places that I though we might fall through, the beds were so soft they were uncomfortable and we had two hand towels and face cloths to share. The perk was having to sneak into our room at night because the neighbor was keeping watch over the parking lot and talking and yelling to themselves - my guess is they were impaired. This was a horrible experience with an old room and a rude owner. Do not waste your money staying here.
