Finca La Alegria

Finca La Alegria is a livery stables situated 1 KM inland from La Cala de Mijas. We are able to provide lessons, hacks, kids clubs and parent leads, all run and supervised by our BHS certified instructors. A family run bar serving a wide range of food is also available on site. For local residents we also have available various livery options.

I'm just back from a short break in Mijas and visited Finca La Alegria with my family for a horse riding experience. The horses were beautiful and although we were very inexperienced and not very agile the guide, Natalia, had so much patience with us. It was so nice to see the real Spanish countryside, going high up into the hills with spectacular views and the finca was an experience in itself with a small pony wandering around and even entering the bar. I would thoroughly recommend doing this if you are visiting the area. It was only a very short journey from La Cala de Mijas.

Diego was fabulous. My husband and I wanted to ride, he is inexperienced and I’ve been riding/competing horses for 30 years. I was not sure this would work! But Diego catered for us very well. He was wonderful with my husband, giving him pointers and tips whilst I galloped off on my own. It’s very difficult to find a place that has horses and guides to cater for both of us, so I can highly recommend!

Bull fights and horse shows

A thoroughly worthwhile and interesting way to spend a morning, learning about traditional Andalucian cattle farming and the horsemanship inseparable from it. There is an interval ( with refreshments including several varieties of Domecq family sherry ) and I would have considered the event value for money even if there hadn't been a second half! Very professionally run attraction with excellent commentary in 4 languages and high standards of animal welfare throughout. Definitely recommended.

know about the life of the bulls and their journey from the moment they are born till they reach their full maturity. To understand this journey it is essential to see the bulls in their natural habitat and to learn about a bull's care through the different stages of his life at a working bull farm
