A 17th century inn on the steps down from Rye's castle, after which it was named. The biggest beer garden in Rye. Great food. The best beer selection in town.
The Ypres Caste Inn, nothing to do with the great war, is a warm and cosy eatery and drinkery with a large log fire. We ate there twice and had cold salmon sala, seafood pasta, sticky toffee cake, crab cakes, tomato and peeper soup, and cod and chips twice. There was nothing fancy, but I rate myself as a good home cook, and each meal did not disappoint. I also observed a beautifully cooked steak on another table.Prices are reasonable, the service is excellent. Beer was well kept and the house Cotes de Gascogne was tasty. The chef is going places

If you like your beer the way it's meant to be, un-doctored with gas and not with all the flavour removed by chilling, then The Waterworks is a must. True to the traditions of The Micropub movement, there is no juke box, no pool table, no fancy food, just proper beer, cider, some gin and good old fashion conversation

The meals my partner and I had tonight were absolutely fantastic. I had lamb and mint pie with all the trimmings followed by a perfectly wonderful Banofee Pie. My partner had steak and ale pie, followed by a delicious pudding too. It was all lovely and hot, and full of taste. Lovely atmostphere and surroundings. To top it all, lovely, friendly, professional staff. We will definately come again.Dear Trip Advisor reviewerThank you very much for taking the time to review your recent very pleasant visit to The Queens Head. Weâre so pleased that you had such a good time and we will pass your compliments on to our hard working team who will be delighted to receive more great feedback from satisfied customers. The moment we walked through the door we were made to feel welcome. The bar area is very cosy and the staff are extremely friendly. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. The food was fantastic and generous portions too. We will definitely be returning again. Highly recommended

We visited here in April as a group of 3 families. Had a couple of drinks first evening - friendly welcome, and nice bar/pub albeit an eclectic mix of stuff in there.Had dinner on Friday evening. Food was ok, not great but not dreadful either. Some unusual/odd combinations on the menu (scallops & coleslaw .... didnât work and coleslaw tasted as straight from a tub).Service was friendly and accommodating - had pre ordered food as a large group, but a couple of dishes were wrong. All sorted out, and apologetic - just didnât add to the experience.

What a lovely warm cosy welcoming pub. We had an evening meal here, sat in the rear dining area with the glowing dim lighting and had delicious English food. Calves liver with champ was great and the lamb rump also a success. We arrived around 7pm as I heard it's always busy and it had a few tables free which soon filled up. Great friendly atmosphere. When walking past the previous day in the rain it was nice to see people playing board games at the tables whilst having a drink.

The warmest of welcomes awaits you at the New Inn. This 18th century coaching inn in the ancient town of Winchelsea offers beautiful boutique letting rooms, delicious traditional British pub food including local specialities, real ales, a great selection
We were after a bank holiday afternoon stop for some lunch and a pint in a pub garden.... this place ticks EVERY box! A good selection of decent lagers... San Miguel, Pravha, Moretti.... lunch was fab, reasonably priced and the fat chips that came with our daughters ham egg n chips were to die for! The buttermilk chicken burger was gorgeous too! A nice country pub in a beautiful village that has a really nice garden, parking, plenty of staff so service was good.... what can I say? I know my pubs and this is a goodun!

We are a burger restaurant in Rye serving beef and potatoes from our own farm, just four miles away. We also serve awesome Aussie import the FreakShake. These babies have to be seen (and sampled) to be believed! No bookings.
Spent an evening in Rye and saw Hoof was highly-rated on TripAdvisor, so we thought we'd check it out for ourselves. We both had a great meal. My burger was excellent, while my partner had steak with blue cheese sauce (very good). Reasonably priced as well. Would come back. Nice atmosphere too. Many thanks for your feedback. Do come back and see us again sometime!

The Plough is a quintessential English country pub with stunning views from our pond side garden over the Brede Valley with the sea as a backdrop. Situated on the Kent and East Sussex border and less than two miles from the medieval town of Rye, we enjoy
Had seen reviews and online menus, thought it looked good and called in. Despite advertising that they severe until 9, we were told at 8.20, the âkitchen was closedâ. As we we still wanted to eat there, I booked a table through Open Table for the following night. We arrived at 7.20 for our 7.30 reservation, ordered our food and drinks, 5 minutes later, the waiter returned, to inform us that they only had one lamb dish of two we ordered and suggested one of us have the pork instead.Bearing in mind the limited menu, I find this to be totally unacceptable. I have no idea about the quality of the food, but think they have a complete disregard of customer service.Off to eat somewhere cheap n cheerful, where you get what they advertise and you expect, not leave hungry and disappointed!
