Top 10 Pub food in Isle of Wight, England, United Kingdom

The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy some peace, quiet and natural beauty. Except perhaps in the summer, when the Isle of Wight Festival draws visitors from all over the world. In 1970, the Festival was the largest rock-music event ever held. It was called Britain's Woodstock and featured Jimi Hendrix and The Who. (Not so much peace or quiet that week.) The island is also known for its world-famous sailing and lovely resorts, where people have been vacationing since Victorian times.

The Sun Inn

Came over to the island for a few days last minute, previously ate at the Sun Inn twice in our visit in May. We returned and were not disappointed. Plenty of gluten free choices on offer. Separate menu, special board is clearly marked. They have good grasp of cross contamination. I had the homemade cottage pie, but other choices include burgers, chips and onion rings. This is a typical island county pub so don’t expect grand surroundings but the food is wonderful and the welcome is warm. Highly recommend

Was recommended to eat here by our B&B owner who also told us to make sure we booked as it is small and usually very busy. Real old fashioned charming village pub with an italian menu comprising pizza and pasta and much more. Went for the "life changing" lasagne which was very nice and the wife had the sea bass which was served on a bed of tagiatelle also very good. Service is good and friendly staff made it a nice atmosphere for a pleasant evening.

The Taverners

Our first time here for a meal and we were initially happy. Nice restaurant/pub with a nice ambiance. Menu choices were rather small which was disappointing and prices were higher that most competitors in the area. I was rather amazed that when choosing a Burger the chips were an extra charge of £2. Rather odd because who has a burger meal without the chips. My wife chose to have sweet potato chips with hers and our friend had pork belly with sweet potato chips. However the chips turned up and were almost cold. On mentioning this to the staff they were immediately replaced. We dine out collectively as a group once a month but would not rate the Taverners as one of the best we have eaten in, although we will return again to see how things fare next time.

We were greeted by a very friendly and funny barman. We ordered dinner, which was delicious, and were looked after by a lovely waitress. We didn’t need pudding but they were too tempting to resist! Am glad we didn’t resist as they too were delicious. The landlord chatted to us and recommended a few places to visit. Overall an excellent evening. Thank you!

Artisan Bar & Kitchen

I’ve visited the Artisan since 20 July and have met Jamie, Lynette, Angus, Ben, Rob and Anthony as the bar staff. Anthony served me my first ever Artisan coffee last Sunday. The atmosphere is outstanding.I have met Jamie most often out of the staff, who, like the other staff is very accommodating to customers’ individual needs, who provide a warm welcome to me and other customers.I also made my first ever visit to the Upstairs part of the Artisan on 28 September which I’d not got around to visiting before last Saturday where they have an additional bar and seating. The Artisan also holds live music.I have varied having one or more soft cold and hot drinks to one or more drinks and a meal, and staying for a few minutes through to an hour or longer, depending on the occasion in question, but whatever the duration, I always arrive and leave feeling happy at the Artisan. The Artisan has many alcoholic drinks including cocktails, as well as soft drinks including an exquisite orange juice from freshly squeezed oranges, and a separate fizzy orange juice drink, plus specialist rhubarb and separately apple drinks among the wide variety of drinks they sell.At my most recent visit, Lynette and Jamie were on duty. On this occasion, Jamie took my order at the bar counter and also delivered my fish & chips meal to my table (an excellent size portion of both) where I watched and listened to a Jazz trio performing to my right at the far end of the downstairs (entrance) room.Wow thankyou for your fantastic review, it really is much appreciatedAnthony

I used to come here quite a lot in both Kynges Well and Dark Horse days and it was always a good pub and restaurant in many ways. One particular staff member always seemed to be a bit "offhand" in Dark Horse days, but he has long gone, thank goodness!Visited yesterday for the first time in 3 x years. I was in Brading the week before and was going to call in tgen, but the pub was closed for the afternoon. Popped in today just for some drinks and glad to see it hasn't changed too much. Still friendly and welcoming. Only down side was the beer was the first ones pulled for the evening and tasted a little bit tired, but still perfectly drinkable. Will have to come back and try the food again as it looked good. I like this pub as it definitely has a unique character.
