In October 2019 my brother and I had the pleasure to visit Chitwan National Park under the guidance of (Kumar) Lama. After a long bus ride from Kathmandu we were welcomed at the Earth Light Hotel. The had everything we needed, and more! The place was well-maintained, clean, had a swimming pool and the (all inclusive) meals were good. The staff was very polite. During the three days, Lama had prepared a program for us which included various activities such as jungle canoeing, visiting an elephant pharm, a local village an dance show. The absolute highlight was the jungle walk where we encountered a rhinoceros! I would describe Lama as a helpful, professional, sincere and enthusiastic guide. After the three days it felt like we made a friend! We hope Lama and the hotel are doing well and we wish him and his family all the best during these difficult Covid times. Best regards from Amsterdam, Eric.

We made a private trek with our two adult children with Namaste Treks and Expeditions. Pre-trip communication with Steve Tickle (US contact and experienced guide) was excellent. Jangbu put together a challenging and well planned trek for us. His son Karma was our guide. He was knowledgeable, entertaining, attentive to any needs, and anticipated/took care of any issues that arose. We also really enjoyed our porters. The tea houses were clean, food was good, the views beautiful, and we were able to learn about and enjoy the culture and people (as promised by this company with decades of experience in the area). Be prepared for endless climbing and descending stone steps!

Indulge in the panorama, and maybe, just maybe, you'll discover what you've been lacking, or figure exactly what you've been searching for, all this time. After all, a journey to Nepal would be incomplete without really understanding what makes it so magnificent. The best times to catch sight of the glittering peaks are the months of winter from September to March. Most treks in Nepal take you thru “towns” of hotels occupied by other trekkers. The Tamang Heritage Trail takes you thru active villages where children are in school, farmers in their fields, and a few guest houses (“hotels”) are occupied by a few trekkers — you’re in the minority here, in the middle of rural Nepal and Tamang villages. Some of the villages have pageants that can be arranged in advance (for around $50 (5000Rs.); these are great if you can make prior arrangements, or are staying more than one day in a village. While most of the villages are about the same elevation, be aware of the topography: most days involve ascents and descents of more than 1000m each! The trails are steep. You will be trekking in farm land, forest, and grassland. Many days there are views of snow-capped mountains in Tibet and Nepal around you. We found the trek to be a great way to “warm up” for Langtang and get acclimated while challenging our hill-climbing muscles. While the trek can be done on its own, connecting to Langtang saves another day of up and down. We highly recommend this trek as a way to get “into” rural Nepal.

We had the 15 day Annapurna circuit with Unique adventures: Unique provided us with a guide, Ramesh and a porter, Nima. They have guided us since we steped out of the Kathmandu airport. The organization was extremely smooth as we didn't have to think about anything, except enjoying our journey. Unique provided our missing trekking equipment, handled the arrival, transfers, bus tickets, hotel, tea house reservations, food... my father and I had a great time, the trek was organised in a way that allows us to both acclimatize progressively for the pass, and enjoy the best Annapurna circuit scenary at the same time. Ramesh and Nima were helpfull in every moment of the circuit, and solved numerous problems that are common in these types of trekking trails. We were feeling safe and secure at all times. Being lucky with the weather, we had a memorable experience that will stay with us for a lifetime. Thank you Unique, Ramesh, and Nima:)
