Since I was little my parents always stopped at this restaurant when traveling to south.This time I stopped here for lunch during my car drive from Lisbon to Porto. We actually came here because it was quite late and they serve meals all the time from lunch to dinner. So we stopped for lunch at 3pm.The specialty of course is âLeitaoâ, roasted piglet. It is a delicious for me the best part is the crispy skin.It isn't a fancy Restaurant but it is good for any kind of meal at any time.

went back to Nova Casa dos Leitoes after some time due to TripAdvisor ratings and afterwards really mixed feelings. Why? Service was competent and friendly; suckling pig was average but good when compared to other local restaurants; the price was really high (2 adults + 3 kids with house wine and 4 deserts - â¬100, which is too expensive for Portuguese standards). To think twice before coming back.

We arrived and were promptly greeted and seated and we anxiously awaited the much talked about local specialty "leitao". The leitao was simply presented and simply perfect. The skin tasty and crackling and the meat juicy and succulent. It was accompanied by the simplest and freshest salad and and thick cut potato chips. Wash it all down with the local "tinto espumante de Barriada", the local sparkling red wine which pairs perfectly with the leitao. I even asked to see their roasting ovens and the staff graciously and cheerfully introduced me to "Master Assador" Jose who gave me a complete tour. You'll love it!

A bit off the highway in the town of Mealhada there is Pedro Leitoes (piglet).The restaurant is huge with a huge parking lot.You order the roasted piglet by kilo, it comes with salad and potatoes chips house made.The wine selection is very good.Do stop by and visit is worth it

At lunch time they have buffet, but who wants to eat buffet food if you can have a delicious roasted lamp or a fantastic codfish with corn bread.

This is not, definitely the fanciest restaurant in Mealhada, but if you want to have an 'excellent ' meal, probably this is the spot. Good competent service, with excellent suckling pig, chips and salad, this restaurant is one of the best options. I've been here several times (when traveling from Porto to Lisboa and vice-versa), as at Rocha, Pedro and Nova Casa, and this continues to be one of the best options. Recommended

It was my very first visit to this restaurant, but I was in company with my friends those know this place very well! It was absolutely unexpected to me to find in such a countryside so brilliant Fine Dinning restaurant! The enormous Wine Card, delicious food and very exquisite service - are the genuine goals of this place! Their speciality is the sucking-pig roasted in special oven at very high temperature, what makes it extremely tender and crunchy! But besides traditional pork they offer as well the excellent fish and seafood!By request, if you are interested in, the stuff may arrange a brief excursion around the facilities! So, next time when youâll be in the way by car on A1 between Porto and Lisbon, donât miss this restaurant! It is really the MUST where to eat! Mealhada has a different way of cooking piglet. The piglet turns around in the grill with its body closed, accumulating all flavours from spices. Great fresh salads, fantastic round French fries, crispy piglet. A real must. Well, the room is not appealing as it is a place to heat. You and more 80 folks.

Just been to this restaurant with family and had a fantastic experience. The chef showed us into the kitchen so we could see the beautiful fish and shellfish and then made dinner based on what we liked and, very happily on various allergies! All of the staff couldn't have been more welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and you could see the chef has a real passion for the ingredients. I really don't have a negative thing to say and would definitely come back, the meal was also very reasonably priced
