Plaza Mayor

Reviewed By Rhod007 - London, United Kingdom

Plaza Mayor is a beautiful square at the heart of Trinidad, the most beautiful city in Cuba and also in the Caribbean. All Trinidad is walkable and Plaza Maaaayor should be your first visit to attend the church and the museums. Then you should go back at sunset for more photographs and for dinner at one of the restaurants on the central steps where street musicians provide the entertainment

Trinidad de Cuba

Reviewed By Larry3570 - Weston, United States

Well preserved area for those interested in the architecture although some may dislike the original paving of whatever stones were laying around a few hundred years ago. It’s easy to trip. Lots of resturants as well as shops and historic spots. Don’t buy the cigars from street vendors, they are fakes made with banana leaves.

Ruinas de Ingenio San Isidro de los Destiladeros

We stopped by the museo de San Isidro for an afternoon and lucked into having Reinier assigned as our guide. His English (and French) is impeccable-which is fortunate as our español is basic at best. Reinier is informative, engaging and passionate about the subject matter and made the history tour much more interesting and real for us. This is a museum not to be missed if you're visiting Trinidad and Sancti Spiritus province.

Cerro de la Vigia

Reviewed By warwickconway - Adelaide, Australia

The hike up the TV tower was a bit sweaty in the Cuban heat, however it was well worth it. Beautiful views! At the top I met a guy who worked there. He was really friendly and showed me around, let me climb onto a section of the roof and showed me different areas and sites through his binoculars. He was one of three people who work up there, working 24 hours before being rostered off for 2 days. I tipped him a CUC for his time.

Iznaga Tower

Reviewed By rongE7234QQ - Hythe, United Kingdom

A great experience, climbing to the top, where you look down on the vultures flying below you! You could feel the tower move slightly when the wind blew. Not too cool if you are weary of heights. Some pretty steep stairs more like a ladder and watch your head for low beams.

I spend a lot of time at Palenque, all my friends and musical buddies hang out here too, you'll find great music, great vibes, and a cool chill atmosphere day or eve to see some of Trinidad's best afro cuban drumming and salsa. I am the author of the breath of cuba, and I hang here because it's got the real cuba vibe still flowing.

Manaca Iznaga

Reviewed By GoodBadUgly2013 - Newport, United States

Trinidad is a very friendly place with COCO taxis zooming everywhere. It has been a while since I traveled there, however, if you get a chance to ride old # 1516 (a Baldwin Steam Locomotive built in Philadelphia USA 1907)... .DO IT. It chugs along through the plantation where the workers still cut sugarcane. As one sees the back country and the labor force at work, one realizes how fortunate one is. It stops at the tower on it's way to the Hacienda and on the return. On the return trip, I was explaining the operational method of a steam engine to my wife when we were asked to step up into the engine compartment by the fireman (locomotive operators). To our surprise the whistle blew and we were asked to be seated. I sat behind the engineer and my wife sat in the fireman's seat as we flew down the tack at about 17 mph. The view from the tower was spectacular. Taste the raw sugar cane, if you get the opportunity. April 2017 was the oldest travel date to choose from. I was there quiet a few years before.
