Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul

Reviewed By Zanjervis - Bristol, United Kingdom

Situated within the Peter and Paul Fortress, this Russian Orthodox cathedral really stands out with its gold spire. The rude screen is absolutely beautiful, but I don't think that I have ever seen a cathedral with as much gold on display. Having been told that this was the burial place of the Russian nobility, it was however, odd to see so many tombs within such a small cathedral, although hearing the history from our excellent tour guide, highlights this buildings amazing history. A lovely place to visit.
