We enjoyed a long drive along the Embarcadero on a Sunday and noticed the numbers of people enjoying their strolls at a safe distance. On a sunny day this is one of the best places in San Francisco for a walk. Lots to see and enjoy, the waterfront, the piers, the Ferry Building, the Bay Bridge.

The Embarcadero can be very busy with tourists, joggers, cyclists, etc. The pier offers a nice respite from all the traffic as it juts out into the bay. With nice views of the Bay Bridge and the bay, it's a nice walk to the end and to stop and relax, even if just for a a short time.

If you want to take a panorama of the bridge and the city, this is the spot. It’s also a fishing spot so make sure you don’t wear your fancy heels or shoes walking around.

Hyde Street Pier

Reviewed By CTBCalifornia - Groveland, United States

If you have a National Parks Pass then you can visit the historic vessels moored at Hyde Street Pier without paying any fees, what could be better, go check it out! There are a number of good informational displays, plus some hands on interactive exhibits. And the historic boats are fascinating, you could easily spend most of a day exploring them and enjoying the views. There is an aquatic swimming club there next to the pier too, watching the intrepid souls swimming in the ice cold water, some but not all in wet suits, is very fun!

Pier 27

I was fortunate enough to work on an acting gig at the new Cruise Ship Terminal at Pier 27 on The Embarcadero. Built for the America's Cup (I think) several years ago, it is now used by huge cruise ships like the Island Princess, which was there at the time I was there. The entrance is new, clean, and inviting. I am looking forward to taking a cruise from there.
