I loved the Dipsea Trail loop which was beautiful and had a fair amount of elevation gain. It is a 2 - 3 hour loop hike that weaves through beautiful stunning forest on the California coast. I would encourage doing this hike during the week to avoid the crowds.

Tom's Muir Woods Walking Tours

Your Muir Woods Tour begins in your hotel lobby. You will be picked up at 7:30 AM, any day of the week or weekend, by private carrier. On the drive from your San Francisco hotel, take in spectacular Pacific Ocean & San Francisco Bay vistas. Your fully escorted walking tour will be on well maintained trails with easy grades, away from crowds, for three full hours. You will experience the rare morning serenity of an ancient redwood forest. The indiginous flora and fauna will unfold before you as you explore these peaceful woods in a way that isn't possible without Tom as your guide. See indigenous wildlife and enjoy conversation with Tom, a long standing Sierra Club leader. Absorb his rich knowledge of the flora & fauna of this unique ecosystem, the Redwoods themselves, Indian customs, park and local history and folklore. Tom is here to give you a glimpse into the life of the forest, not to steer you to the gift shop or hurry you along. Don't be shy, ask Tom any questions you like as you amble along the paths. He will astound you with his knowledge. Tom walks with you all the way through the park at your pace, pointing out every fascinating aspect and facet of the park and the magnificent Redwood trees that have survived here for hundreds of years. The walking tour covers 2 to 4 miles inside the Muir Woods forest, depending on your pace. This a very small group tour and Tom even provides drinking water, snacks and fruit juice. You and your party will be dropped off at the Sausalito Ferry, by private carrier, at the conclusion of your tour. Along the way you will see rolling hills, the town of Sausalito and more breathtaking San Francisco Bay vistas. The all inclusive fee of $75.00 also covers your Golden Gate Bridge Tolls and Park admission fees. There are no hidden extras! It really doesn't get better than this!
