West Orange Trail

Reviewed By exploreforfun

We parked at Kilarney Station, rented a bike, and cycled this paved trail through lovely residential areas, scenic Winter Garden, and on to the Luca Trail that brings you to Newton Park at Lake Apopka where you can walk the pier and, if lucky, watch the crafty alligator stalk birds. There are washrooms there, and lovely restaurants of all kinds in Winter Garden. Visit the Train Museum.

Enjoy and up close experience with sheep, camel, sloths, kangaroos, lemurs, Muntjac deer and more. Leslie and her staff have GREAT care and concern for the well-being of the animals and it shows in their personal dedication. This is an opportunity that doesn't come often. And worth every $$$ to experience. My husband and I appreciate the personal experience we were given and LOVED the dogs. I wish everyone cared for animals the way Leslie and her staff do. The visit was quite a WONDERFUL experience. Thanks for a unforgettable experience.

Lake Apopka Wildlife Trail

Reviewed By DisneyDarwin - Spring, United States

The folks who imagined this place were true visionaries --- birds, birds and more birds. So many species and so many individual birds. The layout makes it easy, just drive and take your time and enjoy the wildlife. We saw mostly shore and water birds, but there were a couple of elevated spots that were fully of warblers, wrens, sparrows and such. This is a most worthy destination.

Central Florida Animal Reserve

Reviewed By Petal35

This is NOT a tourist attraction as such, it is a hard working, non profit animal rescue centre run primarily by volunteers. If, as was suggested in a previous review, you are expecting theme park style attraction, this is probably not somewhere you should visit. If however you are interested in learning more about big cats and the excellent work that CFLAR do, whilst helping with funding by visiting, then it is well worth a visit. As with all wild animals, you cannot guarantee what they will be doing when you visit, it is quite likely that they will be resting or sleeping as that is natural behaviour - if you are expecting circus style tricks you will be disappointed. We were lucky enough to have Simba, the CEO of CFLAR take our small group around and his passion and dedication was obvious and infectious. We learnt a lot about the cats and how the organisation works in a relaxed manner, no tricks or staged shows. I echo Frank J's comments, this is a testament to the dedication of the volunteers and yes, it was worth every penny we paid. The photographs taken by JAC are amazing too!
