Cascade Locks is a city in Hood River County, Oregon, United States. The city took its name from a set of locks built to improve navigation past the Cascades Rapids of the Columbia River. The U.S. federal government approved the plan for the locks in 1875, construction began in 1878, and the locks were completed on November 5, 1896. The locks were subsequently submerged in 1938, replaced by Bonneville Lock and Dam, although the city lost no land from the expansion of Lake Bonneville behind the dam some 4 miles (6 km) downstream of the city. The city population was 1,144 at the 2010 census.

Cascade Locks International Mountain Bike (CLIMB) Trail

Reviewed By keithmG3309SK

Not sure how or why people could miss understanding that easy CLYMB is a MTB or hiking trail. The single track trail system is short, with constant twisting and turning. This helps hone riding skills. The trail is not very rocky. There is not much elevation gain/loss. Most MTB riders are looking for a longer trail system with more flow. This is not easy CLYMB. That being said, easy CLYMB does have its place for the MTB community. If you live close by and want to use it for a quick workout, do as many laps as you want. If you have kids/family, it works out great. If you are taking beginners out, then it works well, and you are never too far from your vehicle. It is easy for the trail to get overgrown with blackberry and other shrubs. In the past, the trail would get cleared by some work group. Not sure since COVID hit. Part of the trail has views of the Columbia river, otherwise you are not seeing much, which is not unusual for MTB or Hiking trails in the Pacific NW. Trees are a mix, mainly leaf trees, which do provide shade in the hotter days.
