BLM Rockhound Site - Sunstones

Reviewed By H7293KTjoj

Fill up your gas and make sure you have water-this is definitely a remote area without services. My truck did fine on the dirt roads, did not need 4-wheel drive - others I saw in cars did just fine. I got lost on the dirt road turning at the wrong BLM road marked "B" - this resulted in selecting some great lava peices. When closer to the actual area you will see misleading signs that say "free Digging" - these are signs for actual mining sites - they don't tell you they'lll charge for the dirt. The road was clearly marked with signs that had green arrows. The sunstones were there ready for picking, just look for shiny spots in the dirt. It was easy how many stones could be collected easily - no need for all the tools I brought. They are right on top of the dirt. Two of them were big enough to have faceted. Only two of mine had an orange hue the others were yellow. It was in the 90's which was challenging because I had put down my water bottle and my backpack with my wallet and keys. I had searched and could not find them because of all the low lying bushes. Another vehicle came to help and we canvassed the area I had scoured and found my backpack and Water!!

Triple C Outfitters

Sturgeon fishing has been on my bucket list for a long time my family gave me a sturgeon trip for my birthday, my two sons and I went out with triple c in August 2020 and had an awesome time Rayhan took us out about 15 minutes from the dock, anchored the boat and we never moved and caught fish almost nonstop all day. I highly recommend triple c for your fishing adventure.

Team Fly Halo

Team Fly Halo provides tandem powered paragliding flights for adventure seekers on the Oregon Coast. Come fly the beautiful coastline with our tandem rated pilots and experience just how amazing it is to fly like a bird. Our USPPA and USHPA backed flight school also provides a full service paramotor training to anyone looking to spread their wings.

Wow, what a bizarre, surreal, and fantastic paramotoring training week! Fly Halos balances the many forces on their class to keep it right in the sweet spot. They focus on the difficult parts (kiting) while making it fun (kite battles, mini milestones). They dive right into hand-ons practice (kiting on the first morning) and also slip in theory (diagramed videos). They keep it light (rule #1) but establish a foundation of safety (motor checks, maintenance, emergency procedures). I really appreciate that Canyon, Boyd, and the Fly Halo team have built a streamlined entry into the scrappy world of paramotoring.
