Ogden Park

Reviewed By pparrothead - Wilmington, United States

It has been awhile since we have visited Ogden Park. So my wife and I decided to take our granddaughter there to enjoy a walk and to let her ride the swings and slides. First off, this park is meticulously maintained...The ballfields, walking trails, pond, picnic gazebos, and basketball courts are all fantastic. Our granddaughter wanted to walk around the pond first and then we headed to the children's play area. There are swings, slides, jungle gyms, etc...Another nice aspect of the play area is that there is mulch on the ground so that if a child falls they are less likely to get scratched or hurt.... Overall, this is one great facility. However, some of that may change in the near future as the by-pass highway is going to cut it in half...As horrible as that sounds, yes it is unfortunate and true. Even though the by-pass will have an overpass right over the access road that leads to Market Street near the basketball courts and dog play area, it should add quite a bit of noise to the entire park.... What a horrible decision by those involved with this by-pass....Let's all hope for the best.

Carolina Beach Inshore Adventures

We invite you to come and explore the Carolina Coast with Captain Mark House. Let us personally guide you on your in-shore adventures. We know this may be the only trip you take to explore the lower Cape Fear region by boat so we want to make it the best experience you have ever had on the water. Our charters are taken by appointment and we try to schedule water tours and fishing adventures in such a manner as not to rush your experience. The "House Boat" is a Mckee Craft 185 center console skiff and will accomidate 2 to 4 guests. It has a T-top for plenty of shade and powered by an extremely quiet, enviromentally friendly , 4-stroke outboard motor. You tell us what you want to do, where you want to go and when you want to stop to get your feet wet and we will get you there. We can adjust our tours and adventures based on your time and budget.

This was our first time going fishing and clamming on the coast. Captain Mark House ensured we had a fantastic experience. He took my 18-year-old son and I out on his boat which handled beautifully both in the ocean and inland waters. He has tremendous fishing experience and knowledge of the best spots to catch fish. We reeled in some beautiful Spanish mackerel to eat as well as some other fun fish to hook and bring in. We had a delicious lunch at Nollies just down the street from his house and than headed back out for clamming in the afternoon. We raked up lots of clams but my son and I both came to the conclusion that we prefer fishing over clamming. Of course my son caught the most fish and the biggest fish but we both had the biggest smiles at the end of the day. Thank you!

My wife and I came to Atlantic beach for a belated honeymoon due to covid. I have kayaked many times and my life and my wife never has. We decided to do the tour and couldn’t be happier. Amazing from first point of contact until we left. I usually find atleast one negative to say in my reviews and I honestly cannot think of one. We will be back.
