The Ocean Project On Maui

**Please contact them at (808) 667-6706 or [email protected]. Do not confuse them with Hawaii Ocean Project, which is a touring boat agency.** I wanted my young boys (7 and 9) to enjoy snorkeling for the first time, so I decided to go with Ocean Project Maui. It was easy to book a time to meet them and communication was excellent via email and texts prior to our lesson day. On our lesson day, Mel and Laura were really great with the boys - so patient and fun. The family got an educational lesson on the different marine life we would be seeing in the ocean. We got a lesson on how to use our snorkel gear and as a bonus we were fitted in wet suits, which kept us warm in the ocean. Mel and Laura were amazing at teaching my boys how to snorkel and pointed out all the sea life that we had learned about. We saw a lot of different fish and even a green sea turtle. The time went by so quickly and we had so much fun. The whole time we were in the ocean we felt safe with Mel and Laura. After our snorkel time, the boys were given an educational kit to take back home and use for a show and tell on more information about Maui marine life. I definitely recommend booking with Ocean Project Maui if you want a safe and fun-filled time learning how to snorkel. Even though we have snorkeled before, we learned so much and were able to use the tips that they had taught us for the rest of our trip.

Napali Raft AdventureDeparting out of Hanalei Bay, this is the most fun and efficient way to see the Napali coastline.Check in at Tahiti Nui Restaurant in Hanalei town. From there we shuttle you to the water, where you board a dinghy that takes you to your rigid-hull inflatable raft which is anchored just offshore in the famous Hanalei Bay and the adventure begins! The Napali Coast comes into view just minutes after leaving Hanalei Bay. The dramatic cliffs, caves, waterfalls, and white-sand beaches will have you in awe from the start. Your knowledgeable Captain and crew will share the history and legends of this enchanting area, which was once home to hundreds of Hawaiians.Along the way we will be looking for sea life, including dolphins, turtles, whales (in season), seabirds, and even mountain goats can often be spotted high up on the cliffs. Your Captain will anchor at one of several protected shallow reef areas that are teeming with tropical fish. We provide all of your snorkel gear and instruction so you can get the most out of your adventure. After snorkeling we will take some time to relax and enjoy the magnificent coastline. We provide a tasty sandwich lunch, with chips, soft drinks, juices, water, and cookies for dessert. When you have had your fill, we will make our way back to Hanalei Bay.Both Adventurer II & III are super-fast, modern, rigid-hull inflatable rafts. These comfortable vessels should not be confused with a Zodiac-type rubber raft, they’re made with channeled fiberglass hulls that cut through the waves. The efficient design and twin 225hp outboard motors allow for top speeds up to 30 knots. Both of our Napali rafts are fast and comfortable with forward facing padded seats. Dive ladders and fresh water showers offer the perfect platform for snorkeling. These vessels offer stadium-style, cushioned seating and even an enclosed marine toilet. They are designed for comfort as well as speed and safety.

My husband and two children had a wonderful experience with Greg McCartney at Ko Olina last week at a privately booked show with him ("Stars Above Hawai'i"). We have seen this show also last year during a visit to Aulani, through the Pau Hana Room. This is such a unique, educational and entertaining way to spend an evening--stargazing through Greg's very excellent telescope and identifying common constellations (both in the standard way of naming them and the Hawai'ian equivalents, with the relevant folklore). For anyone considering if this is worth the money, it definitely is! Greg is so knowledgeable, and he will tailor his discussion of the sky to your understanding, answer any questions and even help you take photographs of things through the lens of his telescope (we had a full moon, which was quite bright and it deters from looking at very distant objects--but we have excellent photos of the moon surface, with stunning detail of the features!). We were able to see some constellations that we could never view from Canada, like the Southern Cross! Our family had him all to ourselves, which was just so excellent, and our kids (ages 10 and 13) really enjoyed this and learned something! Mahalo nui loa for a special night!

We did the Makena Bay Kayaking and Snorkeling tour and it was amazing! We saw so many turtles, beautiful reef, and bright, colorful fish! Jason was a fantastic guide. He was very knowledgeable and professional. As someone who is a little nervous in water, I was especially comforted to know that Jason is a certified master diver - I felt very safe with him as our guide. He took amazing pictures for us as an additional package - definitely worth it!! Highly recommend this tour, it was great experience.

A very scenic, lovely and uncrowded beach. We held our Wedding Ceremony here in May 2018. During our Ceremony, I saw only a handful of beachgoers throughout the entire stretch of beautiful shore. Quiet and protected, we would highly recommend this beach if you are visiting the Napili/Kapalua Bay area.
