Only a few minutes away from the city that joined its destiny to the king of the dehesa, at RESERVATURO RONDA, in the edge of a Biosphere Reserve, we can enjoy observing within a short distance all the stages of the fighting bull breeding and selection: the breeding stock cows escorted by the powerful stallion -the chosen one, the herald of the essence of the breed-; the calves born that year, running about together overlooked by their mothers, dreaming of a long life in the country; the young bulls insolents, boastful of their thoroughbred; and finally, the bull, the result of centuries of men's passion for creating the most beautiful creature, midway between its nobility and its fighting spirit. Beautiful property and a great introduction to the way of life of the Spanish countryside and the breeding of Spanish bullfighting bulls and Andalusian horses. Very professional and warm staff. Animals are incredibly well looked after. Excellent tapas and food and wines too. A real insight into “insider” Andalusia and a must for anyone who wants to understand its culture and tradition. Great family outing, kids will LOVE the experience and also for couples.

If you are an animal lover I can guarantee that you will love The Lobo Park, the wolves are beautiful and well cared for yet are still wild animals, which is so good to see. It has a very different feel to that of a zoo and the staff are clearly educated and passionate about wolves, also really friendly and relaxed. Throughout the tour we were able to ask questions which we answered fully and at length. Our tour had both English and Spanish speaking people and questions asked by either nationality were answered, then translated for all.Informative, educational and really enjoyable! Absolutely recommend that you visit here.

TIP - The shop at the top is really slow, and you should consider taking your own drinks up with you. we had to give up queuing after about 20 minutes and get the cable car back down. we got this as part of the cable car ticket, and were not disappointed with the display, the birds were just beautiful and looked extremely well looked after and health. Where i live i sometimes see Golden Eagles in the distance, and am always excited when i do. The golden eagle here was just spectacular, it soared high, and then it dropped for the 'kill' on a fox fir, and i can honestly say that i have never seen anything so impressive, and will remember it for ever. the other birds were really impressive too, and flew very close to one part of the audience. this is well worth a visit as part of the cable car ticket

What a fantastic time of year to visit for flora, fauna and wild life. I saw bunnies, bees, birds and lizards without leaving the path. The boardwalk crosses the dunes behind Cabopino/Artola ‘Nudista playa’ so be prepared for the occasional distant view of a nudist popping up in ‘Meerkat’ fashion to get an all over tan!

Rio Guadalhorce Nature Reserve

Reviewed By green_gecko917

We read some tips on when it's best to spot birds in general and we went in the morning after there had been a rainfall the previous night. This was in mid-March. There are several transport options. If you're near the train station, take the metro; if you're near the bus station in the Soho area by the water, the best bus is bus 40 to the Sacaba Beach stop, and then walk towards the cute bridge "Pasarela Senda Litoral-Rio Guadalhorce". We tried walking the other way, attempting to get off the beaten path in vain. On Google street view, it seems like you'd be able to cross the river by a small connecting piece of beach that borders the sea. We tried this but it was completely flooded so it would be impossible unless you wanted to swim across. So then we had to walk all the way back. We began to see cool birds as soon as we were at the edge of the reserve (before even crossing the bridge) - we saw two hoopoes, a kestrel hovering in mid-air for minutes at a time looking for prey, and a red-legged partridge. After crossing the bridge and walking for about 5 minutes, there is a left turn and everything is fairly well-marked. There are a couple different routes so we opted to see two of the observatories: "Observatorio de Laguna Escondida" and "Observatorio de Laguna Grande". The Laguna Grande is where you get the money shot. We had been in Malaga for a couple months and had been putting this off because we weren't sure if it would be any good but WOW... this went waaay beyond our expectations. Apart from the birds I mentioned above, we saw: northern shovelers, a group of greater flamingos, swifts, a Eurasian coot, black-winged stilts, a baby woodchat shrike, a wood sandpiper, sooo many great cormorants, and two glossy ibises. I don't know much about exotic birds so I looked up the names after getting home. The stilts and ibises looked out of place on the European continent. I'd expect to find them somewhere in Africa or maybe while playing Jumanji. We reached the Laguna Grande around 10am and that seemed to be a good time for March. The hotter in the season it gets, the earlier you probably want to get there. It was already getting hot walking back and there was no shade anymore. I suspect that we were so lucky partially because we carefully selected the right weather and time of day. Make sure to plan this out right, and if you like birds, it will be so worth it!!

Small and quiet which made it a pleasent and intimate experience seeing the crocodiles and turtles up close highly recommend going to the demo lots of interesting facts in the talk and seeing them being fed plus you can hold and get your photo taken with the baby croc for €3 (extra to buy photos) Me and kids really enjoyed it. Drinks and food on pricey side is my only criticism.

A lovely little zoo where the dolphins are the main attraction. The food is a little expensive for what it is so we ate once we had left. We paid extra and got photos with dolphins and watched all the shows it's a good 4 hours of entertainment but you would struggle to spend a day here the animals all look well cared for and staff were friendly over all a lovely experience
