Prohodna Cave

Prohodna is the most beautiful karst cave in north central Bulgaria, located in the Iskar Gorge near the village of Karlukovo. The main sight here are the "two huge eyes" on the roof of the cave - the eyes of supernatural power.

Prohodna a.k.a. Eyes of God is magnificent Cave. It's a very huge and not typical cave - it is actually a huge tunnel that goes straight through a hill. The eyes on its top in the middle of it are really mysterious. If you want, you can climb on the walls.

NATURE CONSERVATION CENTER. Unique location overlooking the lake and countless species of birds flying. A very well thought out and informative place. There should be more places where you touch the flora and fauna. I recommend it!

Shumen Plateau Nature Park

Reviewed By 445nikr - Varna, Bulgaria

We spent more than half a day wandering across this beautiful park. There are many hiking trails, all well marked, some of them starting from the "Kyoshkovete" park. We also started there and followed a couple of trails, making a full huge circulation, and coming back to the "Kyoshkovete". The first trail passed a couple of places with wooden, rougly nailed tables and benches, made by tourist enthusiasts, where everyone can have some rest or a snack, if has brought some with him. You can't get lost because, as I have mentioned above, the trails are very well marked and all you need is just follow the signs. Along the trails, there are some signboards (unfortunately, along with the info boards about the flora and fauna in the area, scattered along the route, they are in Bulgarian only), pointing to the direction of distinctive entities, either natural or man-made, such as the "Rusalka" cave, "Biserna" cave, the uncompleted residence of the quondam Communist leader of Bulgaria - Todor Zhivkov, the Devil's pass, the Shumen Fortress, etc. Another trail led us from the Rusalka cave to a junction of trails, one of which heading to the Shumen Fortress and the other one going to the Biserna cave (a.k.a. Zandana - a Turkish word meaning "dungeon") and back to town. Great views of the town of Shumen open from the top of the plateau. Hiking the plateau is the perfect outdoor activity. The trails do not require a high state of physical fitness but some of them, in certain sections, are quite steep, and while descending is fine (avoid the dry tree leafs on the ground as those are really slippery), ascending would be a challenge for some people.

Marvelous Bridges

Reviewed By MarekF564 - Warsaw, Poland

These are really magnificent rock bridges. Huge with good perspective you can walk below and on them. Road to the bridges is accessible by normal car but is not very easy. Ca. 15 km from the turn from road to Plovdiv are quite demanding. With last 7 km on very narrow road for 1 car and with lots of holes. Avg speed is around 20 km per hour. Luckily this is not steep road, you just need to be cautious for holes. But this is definitely worth the effort. As well you can try aerial ropeslide beneath the arch for 15 lev.

One of the best experiences so far , they were extremely nice and the camels are just beautiful, a very memorable experience, very clean and well kept and all the little animals were adorable. We came to ride the camels the staff was overwhelmingly nice they made our experience that much better . If I could rate them a 10 just for making us feel welcome I would !
