I visited the bee farm to learn more about the bees that i have in my area and to ask why at night time they invade my house, they are attracted to my lights. I took a sample of one of the bees and Rico immediately knew what it was, it's a giant species that is very different from the other types of bees. He then informed me on how to keep them away from my lights and my house. Rico then went on to show me other varieties of bees he has there on the farm.The bees I found most interesting are the tiny stingless bees and he pointed out how they are the most valuable type of bees to have around. In addition to the bees he had a variety of fruit trees and plants. The plant that i found most interesting was the vanilla plant, it is propagated in a very unique way.He also had fruit trees that were grafted to different varieties of fruit trees so that one tree can produce a variety of fruits. I learned quite a bit there at Omoyon Bee Farm and i am inspired to reproduce some of what he has done there at my own property up in valencia. If in the area are highly recommend stopping by for a visit.

You have to walk through cemented and iron stairs and its very steep, 300 steps. Then afterwards, a very light rocky path. After a 30-45 mins you'll see this beauty. Splashing cold water. Majestic ! Entrance : P10.00 You have to hire a habal (motorcycle ) to come here. In our case we hired habal to tour us around. Chris guides this trek for 18yrs. very fit guy. knows the route inside out and the villagers along the trek. lots of knowledge. we chat everything under the sun. he is not pushy, followed my pace and gave me time for pictures. 2 routes available: route 1 (loop): start at casaroro falls entrance, twin falls, kaipohan sulphur vents, lake nailig, summit, back to lake nailig, lake yagumyum, sulphur vents, return to entrance of casaroro falls. route 2 (transverse): start at casaroro falls entrance, twin falls, kaipohan sulphur vents, lake nailig, summit, back to lake nailig, lake yagumyum, end at bidiao at dauin which is also at dauin geothermal exploration project. trek from casaroro falls to summit is 10km. from summit to bidiao is 7km. althou the 7km seems shorter, it is not easy getting down as most of the rocks were covered with green moss and slippery tree roots. trek is usually done in 2days where you camp at lake nailig. the temp at the lake can dip to 10degrees or lower. not wanting to subject myself to torture and bringing additional load, i opt for route 2, day hike, 2L water, packed lunch, wore a tshirt and shorts, trek shoes with good tracksion, good socks!, started at 6am. bring plaster in case of blisters or paste it over toes beforehand. wear long pants n long sleeves if you are afraid of getting cuts by tall grass or plants. there is no mosquito and buys but alot of spider webs. took me 4hrs from start to summit and 4hrs from summit to bidiao. i am a avid trekker, fit and my pace was fast with rest points while taking pics along the trek, the summit and a 15mins lunch. trekking permit is required for the trek and the route can be confusing for many as there were many routes on the mountain without signages. glad i hired a guide! if you are trekking this for the first time, start early and expect double the time required. the steps up are very high and requires you holding to the roots to pull urself up and some crawling on all fours to squeeze your way under fallen trees. This was my 3rd and 4th trip to Apo Island, and it didn't let me or my fellow divers down. The diving as it has been before was just fantastic. The coral was even better than I remember, the huge school of Jacks following us on one of the dive was only bettered by the sea snakes that were hunting and were not worried about the 6 divers in the water. When you go there take some local money because when the local ladies come out to sell you shirts and wrap arounds you will kick yourself if you miss out. Just a great place to dive, and proves that when a marine reserve is in place it works.

Less than a 30 minute drive from Dumaguete and whilst normally you can drive up a road with nice views this time the bridge over the small river from the main road was under repair and we ( 6 of us ) had to walk up the almost 1 kilometre of a quite steep road . Not a too difficult walk and definitely worth while .The 2 water falls , pools in which you can swim , and the cafe , bar , and other facilities were all very good . When the road re-opens there is parking , for a small fee .
