Top 10 Nature & Parks in Centro, Lazio

September 7, 2021 Natalie Tallman

Rome wasn't built in a day--and you'll need much more than a day to take in this timeless city. The city is a real-life collage of piazzas, open-air markets, and astonishing historic sites. Toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain, contemplate the Colosseum and the Pantheon, and sample a perfect espresso or gelato before spending an afternoon shopping at the Campo de’Fiori or Via Veneto. Enjoy some of the most memorable meals of your life here, too, from fresh pasta to succulent fried artichokes or a tender oxtail stew.

Colle del Gianicolo

A scenic hill popular for its breathtaking views of the city.

Every day at noon, the canon fires (blancs of course) across the city a tradition since 1847, on the order of Pope Pius IX. In addition to a spectacular view there is an interesting park with the statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi on his horse and along the road nearby busts of famous soldiers who died in the process of the unifaction of the various states and the battles that ensued. Further along can be found Giuseppe's wife Anita also on horse-back, a pistol in one hand her baby in the other - some girl!

Monte Pincio

My most favorite park in Rome, the view is stunning over the city, also the view to Piazza del Popolo is wonderful; so much banch to have a sit under palms, nice fountains; the Villa Borghese is accessible from this vast expansif Pincio Gardens; plenty of attractions; you can rent bikes or a riscio, operated with a mixture of pedal or an electrical power and that make for a very relaxed tour to see all the park; I find it also very relaxing on a banch, in the sunshine of Rome and see waching people, children playing; ideal also for a nice picnic; you will never feel bored ; or it's great to observe inspection from the police, riding on white horses, with posh elegance.

Palazzo Farnese

Reviewed By Yog-Sothoth - Trenton, United States

Really enjoyed our recent Wednesday evening English-language tour of the Palazzo, which houses the French embassy, and especially our guide Maria's extensive knowledge of the palazzo's architecture, history and art. You will need to sign up well in advance and navigate the website in French. The nuptials-of-the-gods art is really over the top. Another hidden Rome gem!
