Although it is a part of the East County region, Santee is located just 18 miles (29 km) from the Pacific Ocean. The city is connected to the coastline by State Route 52, a six-lane freeway that runs from Interstate 5 in La Jolla to State Route 67 in El Cajon. The city is bisected by the San Diego River, a linear greenbelt that includes parks, trails and more than 1,100 acres (450 ha) of natural riparian habitat.

We first discovered Chipotle in Bethesda, MD, and quickly became huge fans! We were very happy to see it in San Diego, because it is unique in the types of dishes they offer! It allows you to customize your order, so you get exactly what you want! For example, let's say you order a bowl! You get to choose what type of meat to have: pollo asana, carne asana, carnitas, or chicken adobo. Then you select black beans or pinto, then what type of salsa--poco de gallo or cilantro and onion--then your choice of adding sour cream, shredded cheese, guacamole--at an additional cost, but well worth it! This list of choices is offered on any selection you make, whether it's a bowl, burrito, taco plate, etc. The customization and high quality of food really make Chipotle a great dine in or carry out place! Our grandkids loved the kids quesadillas, which are enormous, as well as the bean and cheese burrito! And don't forget to try the chips and guacamole! A huge hit for our family!!!!

Their carne asada is like delicious steak. I understand all carne asada is just that but just try this place. Good salsa bar. This is my go-to spot to buy salsa and guacamole for parties as well - cheap prices and top notch.

I've been driving from Clairemont to Santee for the past 4 years whenever I get hungry for a really, really good California burrito! Emma's has the best! It isn't fancy, but it's got great Mexican food with fast and friendly service. Other menu items are equally good -- my favorite just happens to be the California burrito. (Note: Contrary to Google maps, it's NOT located on Cuyamaca -- it's in a little strip mall just OFF Cuyamaca on Buena Vista ).

I like to drive through this place for a soft taco between meal snack on my way to the gym or shopping. This taco with some hot sauce added tastes great and is only $1.25 total with the senior discount. Wash it down with a refreshing and free cup of water with clear designer ice cubes.

Pretty descent Mexican food at normal Mexican taco shop prices. Many of the local neighborhood kids ages 12 -15 years old use it as a great place to meet at before heading to the local park or back home. My family has used Estrada's tons of times since it opened to bring home a bag of Mexican food...Tacos, Burritos, Nachos, Quesadillas, etc. for a quick family dinner or lunch.Not the best and certainly not the worst! We eat there often for convenience. And I allow my son and daughter to head there to meet friends. Safe place!

Rubio's serves a variety of excellent fish tacos. The restaurant is clean and nicely laid out with a variety of seating including an outdoor patio. The condiment bar has a number of salsas as well as jalapeños. They also serve beer and wine. A great value too!

Always a good time here. The staff is above awesome. The food is very good and very reasonably priced. The margaritas over the top! Great happy hour. Visit once or twice a month and they get to know you by name. They keep the chips and salsa and carrots coming to your table. The place isn't real big so sometimes there's a wait, but the fact that its small ads to the personal service and intimacy.

Place to go for Mexican authentic food on a consistent basis. Each time we go there the food is tasty, plentiful, and their chips and salsa are fresh and very tasty. Cadillac Margaritas are still the best around. I think the restaurant needs a facelift. But the place is busy and the locals love it here. The restaurant is exceptionally well staffed.
