Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers could

I had woken early for a long-anticipated bike tour, and pedaled off in complete darkness, fearless because I have superb lighting on my Doublevision. As I cycled East our of the big city of El PasoTX-USA, a thrill entered my heart in seeing that most (motor) traffic was going in the opposite direction of me, and when Sunrise did occur, it was well behind me. However, after a couple of hours, I was beginning to feel the need for more energy and began to plot my next stop. I was familiar with my route--I had pedaled it four years before, cycling to West HoustonTX, 11-28JUN2011. I knew the community of Horizon City, further East, was growing, and that I'd likely be able to find nutrition easily. So imagine my delight to find this Whataburger had sprung up close to the intersection of Darrington Road and Horizon Boulevard--it certainly wasn't there four years before! Regardless, I was extremely happy because the entire chain of Whataburgers 4 years ago had been one of my vital life supports that kept me pedaling, and had earned the third photo in my fourth book. Anyway, the staff were extremely professional, friendly, and accommodated my need to rest as well as gorge on the delicious food. The breakfast platter with sausage and chorizo was perfect, as was the CM (Chocolate Milk)+and endless supply of great coffee (those two drinks together are a powerful source of energy for my body). I could feel my muscles rebounding, and by the time i pedaled off, I had consumed many calories. Of course, with all that energy inside me, some did become waste; the bathroom was utterly clean and well-stocked. Unfortunately, once I started pedaling again, my mind wandered to where I was going to stop next for food--though most eateries all provide the same basic service, this Whataburger is vastly superior!

This place has a simple menu. You can get tacos in 4 varieties: buche, asada, tripitas and pastor. The tacos come in 4 or 6 pack options with salsas, green onions and a baked potato. We arrived for early dinner and were greeted with chips and salsa. They also have quesadillas and chorizo con queso.El Paso has plenty of places to get tacos but this place is very good and so worth the drive. They play music while you enjoy your tacos and the staff is friendly and attentive.I will definitely be back next time we are in town.

We got the Super Churro Split, which was pretty good. The ice cream wasn't anything special, but the churros were fresh and delicious. I would recommend ordering just the churros and some chocolate if you go. Overall, the prices are slightly high for the area, but it makes for a decent dessert stop.

They would have gotten an excellent except the red was scorched a bit. Next time it will be better. Everything else was wonderful. An old fashioned Mexican Restaurant run by a family of sisters. No, or very little English spoken. Filled with locals who come for the food not the Décor. Do go especially if authenticity is important to you.

We had Noodle soup, fish, bread, potatoes, bread pudding (sopa de fideo, pescado a la veracruzana, pan tostado, papas y de postre capirotada). Fish tacos, pollo en mole. Great price for a lot of food, chips with hot salsa, horchata de arroz. It's cutely decorated, jukebox.

My family and I discovered shooters two months ago while in El Paso, Texas for my daughter's college orientation. We were looking for somewhere to eat and kill time before our ghost tour. We yelped Shooter's and liked what we saw, so we took a chance. OMG! The food was amazing! We struct up a conversation with the owner, Isela, and she put together a sample platter for us. We then turned around and ordered half a rack of ribs. The meat was so delicious that I never put any sauce on it. The hospitality was just as good as the food. Isela introduced us to her father-in-law the cook, and we couldn't compliment him enough. We have NEVER had such good BBQ like we had at Shooters. We had BBQ the night before at a local chain restaurant and it was good, we were very pleased. But after heading to Shooter's we realized the night before was ok...there was no comparison to the amazing BBQ at Shooter's! And being from California where everything is expensive, we were shocked at their decent prices. We could never get these prices at home. We'll be visiting El Paso many times over the next 4 years and you can bet we will be at Shooter's every single time. We'll be there this coming weekend and already have a drive to Shooter's on our itinerary. Definitely worth visiting again, and again, and again!

I was a few hours into my annual year-end bike tour, with great anticipation of one or two nights out after full pedaling days in the USA & USM, focusing primarily on Valle de Juarez and my suggested bicycle route for transiting this area. My first extended stop came in the San Elizario Historic District, where I took several pix of the first jail in El Paso County/Billy the Kid forced entry, route signs, and the grist mill/oxen power source. Remounting my Doublevision, my other (right) knee gave one last "snap", resulting in negation of stabiliazation & ambulation. I was barely able to move over to this excellent eatery, where I enjoyed an outstanding combed corrida, beginning with Caldo de Res. Slowly cripping around, I enjoyed much hot/black java as I sated my peckish feelings. This is not a bar, just a great little--important for me!--place to figure out my situation. And a good meal is the best way to assist cognition! I noticed several other brekkie choices, but once you've had caldo de res, you always look forward to the next time. It was particularly appropriate today as there was a bit of chill + wind , and hot sopa is the best way to take that coolness away. What makes this such a great stop is that here in the Historic district, like many artistic coves, virtually all other businesses are closed on Mondays (today was 29DEC2014), so not only could I not walk far nor fast, this gourmet burrito is GREAT! Incidentally, I believe one of the reasons I was able to pedal the 28miles/45kms back home is because of the excellent nutrition and service here.

Not far from the historic center and certainly worth the drive. Making homemade tortillas since 1997 and now distributing some 600-800 dozen fresh every morning to the surrounding area. We watched the ladies at work from 4 pm to the early am to accomplish this job by hand. Simple menu with tasty choices. We had rellenos burrito and asada burrito along with Mexican soft drinks. Definitely a great choice. Open from about 5 am every day to 6-7 pm.
