I was expecting much more for a place that is supposed to be almost a landmark. The Mixiote de carnero (113 pesos) was good, the service average, beer starts at 35 pesos, drinks 55 pesos and up. We ate there because we were staying next door at the Hotel Los Baños.

Decided on this restaurant after checking it and El Serrinallo. Tough time choosing but decided on Real del Monte as we thought the interior had more character appeal. It also helped our decision enjoying the lady frying tortillas at the entrance. Arrived at 6:15 PM, not busy, chose our own table, service started out rapid and attentive but slowed as the meal progressed. Ordered a 375 mil bottle of Spanish Crianza and was quoted $170 Pesos. Charged $210 when the bill arrived. Started with the tortilla soup and it was tasty, a bit salty plus the chicken consommé, also good with lots of chicken. Mains were the Chicken Supreme, a chicken breast flattened then filled with cheese and ham (bland flavour) and the Trucha al Maguey (small fish cooked in tinfoil with huitlacoche and spices) which was passable.The restaurant has an interesting old Mexican feel but misses the mark on service and food. Washrooms not checked, credit cards accepted.

Pastes, descendants of English pasties, are a bit like empanadas - something cooked in a turnover-like pastry. Lots of options, savory to sweet, my favorite was the potatoes & meat. And the cinnamon-flavored coffee, cafe de olla, was delicious. Long line out the door, very reasonable prices. Great location across from the main church in the center of town.

This is a restaurant run by Mexican celebrity chef Aquiles Chavez and his family, the food is extremely good, we had different starters, tuna tartar, beef taquitos and as a main chile en nogada which is on a special menu as is season for this typical mexican dish and it was delicious, also they have a gin trolley which is prepared in form to of you in frozen glasses, nice touch, also it was a big plus as chef aquiles himself was bringing the food him self to most of the tables, we had also an explanation of the building where Sotero, as a tip Pachuca is about an hour from teotihuacan by car and is well worth to visit both in one day.

Recommended!We went for lunch because this restaurant was recomended by a friend. For me is the best restaurant in real del monte. Ask for the tlacoyos mineros or the enchiladas mineras.Sopa de haba is very good!And if you are a dairy person, for breakfast ask for a concha con nata. Delicious!!!Deserts are not very good but you eat there and then go for a delicious sweet paste in plateros or tejeda or los portales or any other. All local pastes are delicious.Also you con find a good ice cream in santa clara.Don't miss it!

Es un lugar muy bonito para estar tranquilo contemplando las vistas a lado de ti tienes unas pequeñas cascadas. Solo voy a tomar café o algún aperitivo asà por vistas y atención es muy lindo!!!!!

Es un pueblito a una hora de Huesca de Ocampo donde puedes hacer recorridos dentro de una mina, pescar truchas y hacer recorridos en jeeps ( esa compañÃa resultó bastante mala ya que quedaron de recogernos después de la mitad del recorrido y nunca llegaron por nosotros ) tiene vistas muy bonitas y el zócalo to tiene opciones para comer !

The best surprise you can imagine after a hike in the hills of El Chico. Amazing "pastes", a cheese pie you cannot miss (best I ever tried) and great "café de olla". It is a charming little shop in the main street, right in front of the police station and health centre. It is impossible to imagine such an incredible, sophisticated cafe in such a little town in the middle of the mountains. The prices are great, too: coffee, "flan" and paste for $24 Mexican pesos. Unbeatable.
