Top 10 Mediterranean food in Ercolano, Province of Naples, Italy

November 10, 2019 Franklyn Hardiman

Find out what Mediterranean restaurants to try in Ercolano. Ercolano [erkoˈlaːno] is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania of Southern Italy. It lies at the western foot of Mount Vesuvius, on the Bay of Naples, just southeast of the city of Naples. The medieval town of Resina - read Resìna - was built on the volcanic material left by the eruption of Vesuvius (79 CE) that destroyed the ancient city of Herculaneum, from which the present name is derived. Ercolano is a resort and the starting point for excursions to the excavations of Herculaneum and for the ascent of Vesuvius by bus. The town also manufactures leather goods, buttons, glass, and the wine known as Lacryma Christi (Tears of Christ).

Was looking forward to visiting this restaurant, which was close to our hotel and had good reviews. The food itself was good though portions were slightly small, especially the vegetarian ravioli.Sadly we found the staff unattentive and not very friendly.Overpriced and disapointing overall.

The service was nice but oh God the food was horrific. Neither my wife or I finished our meal. I have no clue how this place is ranked #1. Also, their credit card machine is broken. How convenient, so cash only. Nice people though. Skip this place.

We enjoyed our visit in this cozy wine restaurant very much. The ambiance of this wine-"library" was a pleasant place to enjoy a glass of delicious wine and dinner. We had their complementary bread stuffed with cheese along with calamari, cuttlefish, wine, chocolate cake and a chocolate mousse-type dessert. The sauces on our main dishes were fabulous to the point we sopped up the remaining sauce with bread. The chocolate cake was superb. If the house wine was that good, one can only imagine what the others would taste like. We were happily shocked when we got the bill; it was only EUR 48! We have spent that much or more in other places for mediocre food. Wish we could return several more times. We highly recommend Viva lo Re, several blocks from Herculaneum.

I find it hard recommending this restaurantThe food was decent, but for the price it not worth it.The sea bass was good but it the most expensive sea bass i have eaten (40 euro), and i have tasted better. The salads was completely tasteless, no dressing at all.The other dishes were fine.Dear Erez. Thank you for your visit to MM Lounge Restaurant. We are very sure about quality of our product and we are really sure about competitive prices that we offer. But we respect of course your feedback. Please come again to taste MM and give us the possibility to try it again and improve your score for the next time. See you soon

Having looked trip advisor we decided to try this restaurant. It was a 25 minute walk from our hotel in Herculaneum but boy was it worth it! We were welcomed warmly by the owner who apologised for his English - which was remarkable! We thoroughly enjoyed the three courses he brought us - freshly caught fish freshly cooked. The bill was 50 euros which included two bottles of wine and a bottle of water! Needless to say we booked again for two days later - and had another fab meal.Thank you Michael and Nicola Solomon

Oh dear.My wife, daughter and I visited today. I wish we hadn't.Nothing was too much trouble. Literally, doing nothing would still have put them out.A bottle of indifferent wine, we ordered antipasti followed by a main course, which all arrived at the same time, along with bread which was plonked on our table as a waiter went past. My daughter and I ordered bruschetta, which came out as tomato on toast. My daughter and partner ordered rigatoni with four cheeses, which was apparently tasteless. I had spaghetti e vongole bianco which was also tasteless. We've just had an argument with the waiter and the 'chef'. He seems to have admitted that there was no gorganzolla in the four cheeses, but has suggested that it was for our own good. I really would avoid this placehi ... I wanted to inform you that he was wrong to review the restaurant, since he did not come to our restaurant. from the photos he published and from the menu he described, he never came to us! Our honeymoon had the most perfect start with 2 nights at the Masseria. Everything was impeccable, from Emmanuella and her staff who were so charming and friendly, to all the little details like the welcome message and champagne on our arrival. We had such a fantastic time we woukd come back in a heartbeat. To anyone who has the luxury to stay at the Masseria I recommend the room with the hot tub on the terrace, you can sip on champagne while you watch the sunset over the ocean, it's pure bliss! The restaurant is also fantastic, and their super friendly sommelier is on hand to help pair delicious wine with their delicious food, he can also make an incredible g&t!

We discovered this great place thanks to the suggestion of our friends. The restaurant is linked to the Kbirr brewery, offering a wide original beers selection. But the other great point are the starters and the quality of meat! Big portions, tasty and unconventional flavours and a professional and friendly service! We came from Milan, where the same dinner would have had a price probably 3 times higher! Great dinner and experience, bravi!

This was the most disappointing meal we had in Naples. The food wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t up to the standards we’ve been spoilt it in Naples. The highlights: — Eggplant Parmesan. This was very good. The highlight of the meal. — Spaghetti with clams. This was decent but not great. I really like the el dente cooked pasta in general in Italian restaurants but this was really too undercooked.— Gnocchi with tomato sauce: This is something we could have easily had In the US. The tomato sauce was nothing special and certainly not the high quality typically available in Naples. — Pizza with tomatoes four different types. In one word: disappointing.Dear customers We are very sorry to read that your experience has not been in line with your expectations. Let’s answer to each point. The pasta. Our pasta it’s artisanal and, as every kind of artistanal pasta, is imperfect unlike the industrial ones and probably the perception you had it’s due to the amid that this kind of pasta releases during cooking time and of course industrial kind of pasta does not have this amount of amid released. About the pizza. We make pizza with the best raw materials and we use fresh and seasonal tomatoes. About the gnocchi. We are very happy to read that in the USA you have good gnocchi as we have! Beside the joke: if you are still in Naples we would be happy to cook for you once again (please ask the staff for the General Manager) to introduce you in our world.
