After getting lost in the dark since there aren't a lot of lights on the streets in CR, we found the hotel and checking in was made super easy! The restaurant was about to close but they politely and excitedly welcomed us to get food as we were starving!The food and service was so GOOD! Our room was spacious and has a stunning view of the Arenal Volcano from the balcony and the other side of the room you walk out and can see the rainforest and hear all the sounds which is lovely. Highly recommend this place for views, area, and budget as well- would def come back!

This wonderful place is the results of several years of conservation, allowing to a different species of animal a new home; at the beginning of the 80's was a big cattle field and now it is a paradise for Sloths, Mexican Anteater, Gray Fox, Ocelots, howler Monkeys, Toucans, Manakines, Hummingbirds, Turkeys, Tree Frogs, Glass Frogs and Poison Dart Frogs, Snakes, Lizards and much more...Accomplishing this rich natural environment, the Rojas Bonilla family created some cabins out in the woods, restaurant and one thematic trail of a several stations all along the refuge, where the visitors get a speech about natural history of the species.

Reviewed By Craig DThe trails and gardens offered a ton of wildlife and flora. We thoroughly enjoyed spending free time walking the property. The restaurant on the property was great for all meals and drinks and relatively inexpensive compare to other touristy restaurants. It is walking distance to la Fortuna falls if you enjoy a little adventure (about 25min). There was no AC, but the ceiling fan kept the room reasonable during this time of year. Highly recommend the night walk that they offer. We saw several frogs and reptiles!

Amazing experience
Reviewed By Where-are-you1968My family and I (spouse plus 5.5 year old boy) stayed at La finca for 5 nights. First, the staff. Everyone was friendly, patient, kind helpful and insightful, which pretty much sums up all Costa Ricans. Big shout out to Andreas, Ana, Dennis, Jordon and Carmen. Amazing location that is peaceful and beautiful. Close to many of regions most famous attractions (< 45 mins). Casita we stayed had an an open air kitchen and relax area which was a ton fun and the bedrooms and bathrooms, like the whole private unit, was tastefully/locally decorated and worked well. Reviewed By ericsT7248RHWe had a wonderful stay in Selvita Lodge! Adrian, Irene, and Josue were incredible hosts! The breakfasts were delicious, from traditional Costa Rican breakfast to pancakes and eggs. Living in the cabanas felt like Paradise! The cabins were always clean, Excellent air conditioning and fan and bathrooms. They were great hosts and helped us make our itenerary. We hiked on the trail around the grounds with Adrian and he pointed out the amazing local wildlife including red frogs, pavon, and beautiful hummingbirds. We would totally bring our family of seven here again!

Great view of the volcano but customer service is lacking
Reviewed By Indranil2uPositives: Great views of the volcano from the full window room. Good size rooms. Isolated, green and well maintained gardens. Walking distance to the national park and free hot water springs. Air conditioning in the room. Rooms and linen were clean. Very friendly staff - only the female reception staff though. I had an incident of a lost passport in a restaurant and Juliana at the reception was exceptionally helpful in getting it back. Negatives: A few amenities were missing in the room. A bottle of water, glasses and safe was missing. The shower could be turned off only with specialist knowledge, which we were given only on our third day. So had to bear a dripping shower for 2 nights. The WC was defective too and was fixed on the third day only. They have large premises and there is no telephone in the room and the only way to contact reception is WhatsApp, which they are no so good at responding to. Staff not very pro-active or even reactive. Location is far off from La Fortuna town - 9 kms. Access to good restaurants and bars in the evening will be dependent on taxi/Uber if you don’t have a car. They have food but a limited menu. Even short distances can’t be walked at night due to lack of sidewalks and it being a motorway/highway. They are not very flexible with an early breakfast (only as early as 7 am). Conclusion: A good place to stay amongst nature with great views but be ready for a hit and miss customer service. This is a general observation in CR - the hospitality and hotel prices have increased not in proportion to the customer service/care they offer.

Beautiful Location
Reviewed By mark bWe thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at Tio Felix. The location is idyllic with the cabins facing the breathtaking Arenal volcano. The traditional breakfast of rice and beans, cheese, fruit and coffee (or freshly squeezed juice) was delicious. There is also an option for toast, butter and jam in place of the rice and beans if you prefer. The cabins are clean, sparse and small in size but perfect for up to 4 people who don't mind being cozy. There is a mini-fridge and oscillating fan but no other appliances. The WiFi was sometimes a little hit or miss but it was never a big concern. The shower was fine however the water temp did not get beyond warm-ish. The weather was very warm when we were there (April) so a hot shower was not needed. The hosts do not speak much English but we did not find the language barrier to be a problem at all. The cabins are a short drive (also within walking distance for heartier types) to the beautiful La Fortuna waterfall and a 5-minute drive to downtown Fortuna which has several modest grocery stores, quite a few restaurants, and shops to purchase souvenirs or gifts. Just sitting on the front porch of the cabin, watching the birds (yes, toucans!), seeing the clouds move over the volcano, the cattle grazing off in the distance and a visit from the family's sweet little dog Luna, makes for a wonderful experience. The lodge does not offer all the amenities of a typical Western-style hotel but we actually found that to be just perfect as we didn't travel to Costa Rica to feel like we were back at home. Now with that said, if one did not have a car or bicycle, it might be a little challenging to get groceries or take day trips so keep that in mind when planning your trip. We had a great time and would certainly stay there again if we were ever fortunate enough to return to Costa Rica.

Good basecamp to explore around
Reviewed By Joseph VCozy small hotel to explore around. Very helpful and polite staff. Lots of plants to see and touch, to have a trail nearby would be fantastic though. The pool itself is not that small, but the area around it could get crowded. Typical breakfast was very delish and full of a little bit of everything.

Reviewed By MaiUike初めてのグランピングステイでした。テント内は広々としていて新しく清潔的なベッドが快適です。その他に物置き棚やハンガー干しなどもあり便利でした。各テントにあるベランダにゆったりとしたカウチがあり快適でした。また、各テント内にシャワー室とトイレや手洗いシンクがあるのも便利でした。シャワー室にはボディソープの備え付けのみなので、シャンプー等は持ち込みが必要です。また、水がとても綺麗で、手洗いシンクの水道を安全で美味しく飲むことが出来て良かったです。 テント内にはエアコンディナーが設備されているので快適です。TVや冷蔵庫等はありませんが、ホテルっぽくなりすぎずテント感があって良いです。テントなので朝方は朝日で明るくなりやすいですが、それもそれでテントキャンプ感を感じられて良いです。 テント内で心配すべきは虫だけです。床とテント壁の間に隙間があるので、蚊などの虫が入ってきます。蚊除けスプレーや蚊取り線香は必須です。一度10cm強の大きなバッタがテント内に入っていて驚きました。 朝食は屋根付き屋外の解放感があるスペースでのビュッフェでした。フルーツ、ピント、卵料理、パンケーキ、ヨーグルト、飲み物等がありました。 ホテルには温水プールもあり楽しかったです。大きな温水プールと小さめのジャグジーがありました。 テント内はもちろん、ホテル敷地内では、十分なスピードのあるWi-Fiがあるので便利です。 ホテル周辺には車で10分以内のところにスーパーやレストラン等のあるダウンタウンがあるので便利です。でもホテルからは適度に離れているので騒音が聞こえず快適です。

disappointment, closed during weekdays (no tours), only for Spanish-speaking locals
Reviewed By Arnoud dWe wanted to show our children how pineapples and other fruits grow. But once arrived at first they could not find the reservation for 1 night (booked directly via their website). Lady continued to speak in Spanish while we explained with hands and feet (and Google Translate) that we wanted to see the organic farm. Tractor tour and walk around the farm was not possible anymore this day (we were told early afternoon), night walk which was promised during booking, was not known. Having a drink in restaurant to wait for the English-speaking lady was not possible. We left disappointed, there was nothing to do on the deserted farm. This place appears to offer tours only on weekends and only for locals. We were supposed to know as it was on their website, but there website was offline for more than 2 weeks, already. Not adapted to non-Spanish visitors. Keep this in mind when planning your visit! We went further to Sarapiqui Rainforest Lodge: warm welcome and lovely pool. But this experience with Del Bosque was a waste of time

Reviewed By zallo85Posizione ottima. 3 minuti a piedi dal centro di La Fortuna. Camera pulita. Wi-Fi funzionante. Bagno in comune pulito. Non esiste reception. Se la proprietaria (che abita al piano di sotto) non è in casa bisogna chiamare il numero di telefono attaccato fuori dalla casa.
