Following recommendations from people in town, we found this restaurant tucked away in the town of Yanai. Not a tourist site on most people's lists, Yanai was a small Japanese town with its own station. The restaurant did not have a printed English menu, but we "negotiated" a "kaiseki" dinner through hand gestures and a minimum of terms, like "kaiseki". We also had a couple of sake at the recommendation of the restaurant owner. It was both fun and excellent eating. We enjoyed all the courses, which came with translated labels. The sake was fine, tasty and adventurous. We loved it all. When it comes to dining, what more could you ask for. While not in any tourist book, this was a hidden gem of a find.

Local, family owned sushi place. Fish is always fresh. Nice customer service. This is a small farm town, so not sure if someone will be able to speak English, but they will definitely try and be helpful! Would definitely check out this place out. It's where all the local people go to eat sushi!
