I just moved here 1 month ago to start my business and this is my favorite place. This is a cute town but there is really no nightlife to speak of ( I'm not a bar/snack guy) so this place is great. It is usually full of fun people enjoying the place so expect a wait during peak hours. My Japanese is limited so the pics in the menu are useful but there are always a few lovely young ladies on staff who are always willing to help in English. There is guy running the bar who is one of those guys who is just "a cool guy", any expat knows what I mean. I don't know him but he is always very friendly, does his best to understand my Japanese and will always get you a beer with a smile. The place has geat decor and is bright, clean, lively and offers counter, floor, or table seating. I am not sure if it is family run but the staff is awesomely attentive, always busy serving the happy crowd and does it with fun attitudes. You can count on getting the fun "Irraishai" when you come. The dishes are all good and very reasonably priced. The chicken nanban (local specialty) is awesome and the yakitori selection rules. It is my favorite place in town, and being the only known foreigner, it has made me feel very welcome even though I go alone. A really great place and great value in Takanabe.

Very cute little place that is hard to find if you do not know where to look. I small door leads into the place and it is one long counter only and the counter is one solid piece of gorgeous wood. I walked in at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night and was the only one there! The woman (name?) was not surprised despite I am the only foreigner in town at the moment but was so kind to start the grill for me. There is no English menu but if you trust her and her 30 years of experience there, she will serve you some very tasty and tender yakitori. I had maybe 6 sticks of various sorts and 2 beers for Y1900 - not bad. It was well worth the price for the experience. The place is charming and local and definately worth stopping by. She was a lovely host and despite my poor Japanese speaking skill, I really enjoyed my meal/visit.

Great place for good etas/meats! It is a traditional style place and very clean and modernized. They have tables if you prefer not to do the tatami seating. The service was great and is a popular place with the locals. I have been 3 times on weekdays and each time there was a full house.
