There are few restaurants around Suwa city. Furuhata provide unagi well grilled for crispy outlayer which is one of reason here is my reason.Interior is traditional Japanese with tatami seat for groups so that traveler from overseas can enjoy it.

This geographical area is famous for Soba noodle. Using 30 minutes before taking the express train, I had a nice Soba noodle for lunch. It tasted very good to make me feel what the real Soba noodle is. It was really great. Just one minute walk from the Kami-suwa station. Recommend.

HOHTOH is one of the traditional Japanese foods around Yamanashi prefecture.Please Google âhoto, wikiâ, and you can understand what it is from wikipedia English.It is, how to say, similar to Udon noodle, but there is many ingredients such as pumpkin, poteto, carot, pork, and so on in the soup.Taste is based on Japanese Miso, salty soybean paste.My recommended dish is a spicy pork HohToh, which is spicy by red chili. I always have this spicy pork HohToh whever I visit Nagano prefecture. I love this spicy pork HohToh very much.When you are interested in HohToh, I definitely recommend this restaurant KOSAKU, which is a chain restaurant in Yamanashi and Nagano prefecturs.

Went here on a visit to Suwa. The eel came in a round bowl and was very delicious. I also tried some horse sashimi which tasted like very nice beef! Service was a bit âslowâ but we couldnât speak Japanese that well which contributed to it!

We visited this place for lunch with three people. We place is very cozy and has a great atmosphere. We all ordered the same dish, as shown in the picture. The meat was very tender and the side dishes (especially the miso soup) were great. Make sure you don't forget the sauce with this dish (as a waitress kindly pointed out for us), you'll regret it if you do. You get enough food to last the entire day, though I'm unsure what the other dishes are like. The menu is Japanese only, but we simply asked them what they'd recommend.They have a free parking lot in front of the restaurant, so it's easy to reach if you have your own car.

It's right here. Yatsugatake cold soba is best. I have eaten good so soba throughout Japan but this is the best there is. Must try!

It tastes really good! Rice topped with mushrooms, chicken, potato, burdock, etc. The area is called Ogino (within Chino). Even my local friend recommends this dish. The shop also sells omiyage or souvenirs from cities around.
