we loved the helpful service and generous nibbles, had the wine samples, very good. did not like....... the stools, no chairs, canât spend a meal time on a stool.also, nice location away from the traffic, quiet rooftop terrace.

Don´t be afraid to visit this restaurant even though it´s a part of the hotel which is usually not a good sign. However this place is really amazing. The environment isn´t the most beautiful I have ever seen, but the quality of the cousine moves everything onto the highest levels.I tried a traditional regional menu - pizzoccheri della valchiavenna, deer and desert being surprised by a small antipasto before as a free gift. This even helped to completely destroyed me as everything was so good not to be able to leave anything. Be aware that the portions are huge here, for example pizzoccheri could be enought for a diner, but it would be pity not to try also something else. Having closed everything with local amaro was a final point of a perfect experience which I would like to repeat.

We were excited to eat here after reading all the fabulous reviews. However, our meal was disappointing. I ordered the lamb stew which was bland and tasteless. My daughter had the fish which was also under seasoned. I will say the artichoke soup was delicious and they were nice enough to split an order for us. The place seemed a bit too pretentious for our taste. The service, while efficient, felt a bit unfriendly. I was hoping for more small trattoria vs fine dining stuffiness and would not return.

Dinner is very tasty, you can order different pasta meals with home-made pasta. We had dinner at the hotel several times and ate pasta with different cheeses, porcinos, different meat like deer and beef, polenta (which is a speciality of the region, there are different types). They also serve big platters (which looked nice, we saw it from other guests, but did not get the chance to taste it, also they serve "branzi" which is a local cheese (and also the name of a village nearby). My husband & I dined here for our 1st wedding anniversary after finding other reviews on Trip Advisor. We were staying in Nesso, so it was a good 45 minute drive, but was worth it. The drive took us in land, where we were able to enjoy other scenery other than the lake. When we arrived we didn't know what to expect from the outside view, which is more or less a door in the side of a wall, however, inside was lovely. It had it's own style, which was a little of everything, & worked on every level. The owner, who was also the chef came to us & helped to translate the menu, we speak little Italian. My husband is a veggie, & he was able to tell us about the meat free dishes.Both our meals were amazing. My husband having cheese to start & homemade fresh pasta with red wine sauce, I had duck to start & steak with a stilton sauce. All the food was amazing, it was fresh, homemade where it could be & delicious. We opted for a white wine, which again was very good. Over all, it was a fabulous experience, wonderful food, with great personal service. The atmosphere was romantic, cosy, & personal. We couldn't recommend this restaurant enough, & encourage a visit during your stay around Lake Como.

Writing this review in English so to promote Val Brembana beyond our borders.Spent 4 hours having a great lunch on a sunny day. Many delicious starters, two mains, dessert, coffee and spirits at the end.â¬35 is a honest price for such a big lunch.A different approach to the valley's traditions, with an abundant fixed menu.Would recommend it to anyone visiting the surrounding areas (Bergamo and Milan).Just an advice: see if you can get some choice for the wineFabio

We found this restaurant following a recommendation on Facebook. The chef/proprietor was previously the chef at the Royal Victoria and we had been impressed with his culinary skills. We were shown to our table in the charming courtyard under plane trees and soft lights. The staff were courteous and friendly and explained the menu knowledgeably and with enthusiasm. The extensive wine list featured many excellent local wines including a stunning Nebbiolo from Mamete Prevostini. My starter was Tagliatelle with Prawns and Wild Mushrooms in a delicate delicious sauce - stunning - and my wife had pasta with lobster and a bisque. Main courses were veal with truffles and pate and my wife chose fish which she declared to be delicious. The portions were ample so we shared a dessert. As the meal ended both chefs visited each table to receive feedback. Chiavenna is the place where " crotti " abound.Crimea is an hotel,centrally located, pretending to offer food as a restaurant, only to justify a higher price.Do'nt be fooled !If it was honest enough to call itself crotto, I would not bother to write about...Lousy food ending up with a factory made "gelato", an outdated wine list with a lame excuse that we are "fuori stagione".I had to content myself with a Morellino di Scansano that I would'nt recommend to my worst enemy and a bill over ⬠40, no first course, no coffee or Digestive.In essence, to be avoided, there are around decent "crotti" where there is value for your money.Up to you...
